We've been told since day 1 there was a long term vision of Martinez's 'vision'. What is it, exactly? Letting go a very promising player for almost literally nothing seems to be counter intuitive to a long term vision

He isn't letting him go. He just can't do anything about it.

....under Bosman there's very little the club or manager can do about it. Let's not forget there are probably occasions we are the recipients of such situations. Just the way it is.

Doesn't really say much new tbh, except that it's reckons we definitely have offered a contract

Everton FC want Luke Garbutt to stay at the club and have offered the full-back a new deal, the ECHO understands.

The 21-year-old left-back is out of contract in the summer and talks have been ongoing between his representatives and the club.

Garbutt has made his first-team breakthrough this term and impressed in the four matches he has played for Roberto Martinez’s side.

The Harrogate-born defender, who joined the Blues Academy in 2009, has quickly became a fans’ favourite at Goodison with his accomplished performances.

Garbutt, in particular, shone in the crucial Europa League tie in Wolfsburg, a game Everton won 2-0.

But now Blues supporters are concerned that as Garbutt enters the final few months of his contract with the club a resolution has not been found.

It is believed that Everton have offered the former Leeds United youngster fresh terms and that Martinez is keen for the England under-21 international to remain at the club.

Garbutt was not named in the Blues squad for the derby despite injury to first choice left-back Leighton Baines and it was Costa Rica international Bryan Oviedo who filled the void.

The full-back’s absence fuelled rumours that he is heading for the Goodison exit but Everton want him to sign a new contract.

However, it is believed that the Blues are weighing up the possibility of sending Garbutt on loan to a Championship side for the rest of the season.

Yes please. It's very tight at the top of the Championship atm and I bet he could do wonders for a team's promotion push.
