Haha @davek wtf. Amazing how people are turning on this lad based on Chinese whispers on internet forums of all things. There's been absolutely nowt to suggest he's being arsey about anything. He's in a position where he's a talented young player at a club he wants to play at, but there's two established players ahead of him. That's going to take a bit of sorting out when it comes to contacts etc.

Disgraceful how people are slagging him off for no reason. He could very easily just run his contract down and bugger off to another prem team on a free, but by all accounts he's trying to work something out so he can stay here. I hope there's some excellent vaulting sessions of these beauts when he's swinging in beautiful crosses from the left every game in a year or so.

... need this kid to sign asap. Looks a proper player. Luke Shaw went for £27 million and for me, Garbutt has more about him.

The available evidence says he's looking for a guarantee of first team football when we are blessed at LB. Fair enough if he doesn't want to remain here and be patient. What he can't be doing is tweeting his frustration/irritation of having to wait for a chance...and especially at such a poor moment for the manager who was getting slaughtered from every quarter at that time.

It's time for him to **** or get off the pot really. And in the meantime keep his thoughts to himself. Let's face it, if he'd done this under Moyes he'd have been out already. Why should Martinez be a soft touch for this sort of behavior?

Let's see these tweets then.

He is a great prospect and hopefully he will sign.
I guess the negativity was because he tweeted he wanted to play which is a good thing.
Nothing worse than players who just take the money and are not arsed about playing.
I for one like the fact he wants to play

They're out there aren't they, tweets or retweets. And they amount to the same thing in the context of being in the team briefly and then out again. He couldn't have done that at a worst time for his manager.

Won't sign a contract + underscoring a view that young English players should get their chance = insubordination.

The lads obviously unhappy. Unless he signs soon, the best thing all round is to get a fee for him and get him out of here. As said, I can't see the fuss over this. He'd be our third ranked LB. FFS, it's not the talent of the decade we'd be releasing here. He's just another St George's Park drone.

I don't know, hence why I want to see them. Since I'm not on Twitter if someone could post these infamous tweets on here i would be most grateful.

He has come on leaps and bounds and is now a regular in the England under 21's why on earth would we want to get rid?
The contract issue is ongoing so its not a case of not signing it.

There's nothing to sort out. He has a contract in front of him and when he signs it he will go on loan for the next 6 months and in the summer we would probably sell Oviedo (who only has 18 months left) and then he would be Baines' backup next season. That which given the amount of injuries this year and Carling Cup games would probably guarantee him a load of playing time. Quite frankly he would probably already be getting those minutes if he had of signed earlier.

He might even see him playing alongside Baines more if Barry is sold in the summer which looks likely.

However for some reason he's stalling. Only time will tell.

Surely Garbutt could also gain from signing a new deal. Sign a new 5 year contract and go out on loan to a decent Championship side/lower PL one. Stay there for one or two seasons and come back after that to be first choice LB at Everton. Or sign on a perm for someone like Stoke or Sunderland and hope you ever get the chance to play for a top half PL side again.
