Penalty saves are a lottery, the amount of points this idiot is throwing away far outweighs the saves he has made. The point is for Koeman to be picking him ahead of Joel is a terrible call from the manager, and it is costing us points. If Joel had made any mistakes you could understand it but to be as poor as Stek is to still have a start is a joke.

Not even good enough for Fulham, worse keeper I have seen at Everton for 30 years

Well that's your opinion mate and I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree, because I personally think that statement is mental

In the grand scheme of things, yes

Robles would make just as many, if not more
Sorry, but that's utter nonsense of the highest order. In the grand scheme of things Stekelenburg has made numerous mistakes as of late.

Add to that, such numerous have in many instances directly contributed to goals that we have conceded. For me that simply can't be ignored.

Furthermore, to claim that Robles will make as many mistakes, if not more, is completely unjustifiable. Was his last performance a clean sheet?

I'm not saying Joel is a long-term option and nor is he a top quality keeper, but Joel has shown he is capable of at least challenging for the jersey.

Yet yourself and Koeman seem somehow prejudiced towards him and believe Stek, regardless of how poorly he performs, is untouchable. Farcical!

I'm not prejudiced against him at all mate

I strongly believe you are overstating how bad Stek is

Again, this is the evening of a game where he's made a mistake, so I expected it

I think in time, once he's had a couple more decent games (Which he usually does, because he's actually a competant keeper), you and others will come round to my way of thinking

And? His confidence is not our primary concern. His performances in the goal are what is important.

Because Robles isn't the answer and we're going to have to go back to him eventually, and if his confidence is shattered then at that stage we're in a lot of trouble

What we can do is play him against Watford and then bring Robles in for Arsenal, because then it's rotation due to fixture pile up as opposed to a demotion, which won't have the same effect

Sorry but more incoherent waffle once again. My point is that as of late he has frequently made mistakes that have directly led to goals!

For all the positives actions he has had, such as a few great saves including the penalties at Citeh, it doesn't counteract the mistakes he makes.

Making exemplary saves is all well and good (and something I give him credit for), but if you then make regularly make clangers it means nothing.

Simply put, I'm not confident that he will not make an error that will lead to a goal, therefore I do not believe he currently deserves his position.

You're argument is that we shouldn't drop him in case we hurt his little old feelings, or perhaps Roble's may perhaps make an error in his place.

Well Stekelenburg is making errors and already seems to lack any confidence, so I'd say it is worth trying Robles and seeing what happens.

Remaining with the status quo for purely sentiment or speculative reasons is naive to the nth degree. Let's bring Jagielak back in when we're at it.

I do hope Robles gets a go mate, I'd like to revisit this when he does, as I think he'll prove me correct and you wrong

Guess we'll just have to wait and see

And what about when we have to get him to go back in goal because Robles isn't good enough mate?

That'll go just smoothly won't it?
We know Robles isn't what we all what in goal but he's better than stekelenberg and if koeman knows he job he will get a keeper in is January,if he doesn't manage to get one then it's Robles and stekelenberg as no2.
