Why ?? If he can handle the pressure of the opening day with a sold out crowd, A new managers philospohy ..It doesnt get much more stressful than that. Give the lad a chance...even Forster, Butland make mistakes. I thought he looked dead composed today.
Let me clarify.
He is 34 next month, so obviously he is not going to be here for many years to come.

Whilst it pleases me to see him perform well, we really do need to be looking at a longer term solution to challenge him fo the no.1 and replace him if need be.

I'm sure a new keeper is on Koeman's shopping list. That doesn't mean it'll defo happen before the end of the window, I'd guess it's 50/50
If Koeman is focusing in solidity and building foundations, then a keeper is the corner stone of that.

He knows Forster was a necessity at SouthAmptin which is why Stekelnburg was number two there.

Number two there but number one here?

Robles has proved himself, and the Strach today did the business two very good keepers IMO!

The Strach ?

Anyway, putting that to one side !

Although he got a fair few games at Soton under Koeman, Stekelthingy was no. 2 there and I believe Koeman sees him as a very able deputy but would like someone better as first choice.

Robles is OK, and may well improve, but he's plainly not seen as being ready by Koeman.

Without looking too far into the future and getting beyond ourselves, it's fair to Stekelenburg had a good game and should be praised for that.

He made number of strong, confident saves and he marshalled his defence well both through his positioning and communication with his defence.

Distribution was slightly questionable at times but that'll hopefully come with more game time and work with other players on the training pitch.

Is he what we need in the medium to long term? I really don't know however I'm sure we'll find out whether Koeman thinks so quite soon.

Until the window closes and we know who'll be our number one for the duration of the season, let's give the lad credit where credit is due.

Totally agree with you dave.

We've signed Gueye and Williams with noone really getting a whiff of either signing till they were close. Bolasie if he comes would be much the same.

It wouldn't surprise me at all for some left field keeper to join us this month. Time will tell.

Oh, so he's a gamble but A.N. Other (With a huge price tag) wouldn't be?

I've seen big name/reputation keepers come & go mate. Built up to be superstars - and then, WALLOP! Laughing stock in minutes.
We'll see what happens if we do go with Stekelenburg and we concede daft goals in the coming weeks. Murder at the boards inactivity I expect.

I didn't realise he's only 33. That's more or less prime age for a goalkeeper. Maybe Koeman is thinking about making him the #1. I think he'll bring someone in though.

So you expect him to fail? Not only that but it would appear the culprit's already been identified?

Sound. I'd rather we spent money elsewhere than on the likes of hart & begovic, because the second they bolloxed up (And believe me, they would as well) it's a racing certainty you'd be the first on their case(s) as well as Koeman's for spending the £millions on them.
