Maarten Stekelenburg

At £.75m he's a bargain anyway. I don't know why people are complaining about him, and then complaining about the same people who are happy enough with Maarten, are apparently the same ones stamping their feet about getting rid of other players to bring in new ones, while they tmeselves dismiss Stekelenburg altogether, and are wanting in a keeper that costs £££millions but isn't any better.

Any ideas, @davek?
I think you might be in a better position to understand that when the window slams shut and we have Robles and S'ton's #2 to soldier on with.

What part of Steklenberg's performances has convinced you he's not good enough? I would find it absurd to be even considering dropping a keeper in his form.

So dramatic David, better than soldiering on with Wigan's cup keeper and an American that should have been put out to pasture but hey this new guy's getting everything wrong.
Not much better.

He's done ok since coming in. But I cant understand how a couple of games decent work equates to a belief that we dont need to solve this long running issue of a top quality GK at the club.

We're sleepwalking through that window. When it slams shut some can repent at leisure while others will rightly fume at how negligent the club have been. It's just a cheap stop gap signing, Stekelnburg, and we fall for this type of stuff every time.

Did United make a similar mistake signing Van der saar then Dave?

I find it interesting that Patrick Lodewijks has not been mentioned at all in this thread.

Recognised by many as one of the finest goalkeeping coaches in world football, is it not possible that Steklenberg's form and performances to date, have benefited hugely from his input?

Oh boy.

D'you think Koeman would have had him on the bench at S'ton if he were the new Van der Saar?

Mate, that's why Koeman is eyeballs out trying to get a keeper into the club.

Let's just hope the money men open their wallets to make it happen by Wednesday.

The only way the stark will be dropped is if City virtually send us Joe Hart on loan on a freebie nominal wages etc then he should keep his place untill he has a mare let's face it Timmy was poor for three seasons and kept his place also Robles did not have that many bad games - why we need three keepers when we are weaker in outfield positions is a mystery to me IMO!

Are you suggesting we buy a keeper that can play in midfield?

Buying a keeper doesnt stop us buying a midfielder.

Turned down Man Utd to replace Van Der Sar .

If he can get back to levels earning him that type of transfer everyone will be delighted .

It does if it's a 7 million loan deal as I

No read my post we are not going to waste 7 million for a 8 month loan season as I clearly state City will have to be very reasonable on his wages being paid 7 million would go a long way for an outfield player hope that clears it up as Koeman stated not interested in Hart I suspect for the reasons I post ok

It wasnt costing 7m for Joe Hart and it seems as tho Koeman ruled him out cos he didnt want to fight for his place here or at City.
