Just one downside to this guy.

His name.

After numerous drinks.....................

"Shtelk......."

"Shelk........."

"Stelk..........."

"Our goalie was immense!"

I still want us to buy that top drawer, longer term goalkeeper at some point in the next 12 months - but Maarten is a significant improvment on the clown we had in goal the last few years.

I can't understand some of the criticism he has had recently. I think some people would prefer us to have a more popular big name having spent £30m but for me, he has done very well in his short time here so far.

Davek has a point about him being weak under a challenge, but on the other hand, on occasions he does come flying out as Howard used to do in his early days and punch the ball to safety which is something that was costing us in recent seasons with Howard rooted to his line.

As for his shot stopping, he has been excellent and has saved us in a number of games. He was as good as any keeper could be yesterday and could be crucial in getting us a European place this season.
In 8 games this season I reckon he has won us 4 points and hasn't cost us any with mistakes. By my estimation that's about a 6 point turnaround on this time last season, but that was before bungling Tim really came into his own starting with the game against Arsenal.

That's good enough for me and you would be hard pressed to identify a keeper in the Premier who has performed to a consistently higher standard.

I still don't think that he is really top quality, but if he carries on performing like this I think I'll have to change my opinion.

I see we've been linked with the lad from Sunderland who is a fine prospect, and many believe it won't be long before he takes over from Butland as back up to Hart. Initially I would have preferred somebody who could step straight in, but maybe the form of Stek could give us the luxury to go for somebody like Pickford and send him out on loan for regular playing time, like Stoke did with Butland.

He had one brilliant season and another where he was tosh and won player of the year and another when he was poor/injured.

That one season though, he was brilliant. Cahill for me had more than one brilliant season in a blue shirt. Only his last was crap really. Love me some Cahill though.

Coleman, Arteta, Jagielka, Baines, Pienaar, Cahill and a few others are better signings off the top of my head.

No fam

The defence seem to trust him. Must take some pressure off them and therefore help them play better. Jagielka didn't get the message with those stupid tackles though.

Didn't watch the game live, had updates and as soon as City equalised I just felt that "Winner is coming for them" Everton type feeling, nice not to be punished!

If Pickford did move on he wont want to be a number 2 or want a loan move to the championship he'll see himself as a PL player

I thought the same probably like most that as soon as city scored, that they would go on and win, thankfully they didnt, but when you miss one pen,you hope to get the lead which we did,to then miss a 2nd pen after leading, you think its your day,to then typical go and conceed to someone on the pitch for one min on his birthday, few mins after 2nd missed pen,it can be exciting and annnoying and boring supporting everton, usually all in the same game lol

Hes made some unreal saves in his short time here, hard to pick which one is the best, but probably the Kevin De Bruyne one which coleman give away from the throw in late in the game, havent seen the save from behind the goal level cam just to see how much he actually got on it

Thought the deflected shot from Spurs was his best... his reactions then were unreal
