Unless we signed a proven World Class level keeper like Neuer etc, I'd find it exceedingly hard to justify dropping him anytime soon based on his overall form this season

He's not at that level, but he's been a safe pair of hands thus far

He's won us 5 points by my count already this season

I wouldn't dispute that

Just that you said " safe pair of hands" I think that means he doesn't make mistakes and doesn't cost us points... a decent keeper wins you 10+ points a season IMO. Stek is well on his way to that. I think he's quality a very good keeper that I can't believe Fulham didn't want.

last season with a worse defence Robles had one bad game - Steck is playing great maybe because Robles is pushing him as stek had a mare in midweek for his country!
Not saying Robles did badly when he got the chance, but he hasn't impressed me like Stek.

Think we were just so used to every shot on target going in that we're extra appreciative now. Don't get me wrong we still need a new, younger keeper in the next two windows, but this fella has deserved the number 1 spot for at least this season the way he's playing.

fair play to the Stek, I along with many was underwhelmed with him as the number 1 when the season starts but he hadn't put a foot wrong before following it up with that performance on Saturday. He is a lot better than I thought he would be and long may he continue to be I hope. We wont need a new keeper in the summer if he carries on like this

Two things about the GK situation:

1/ It'd be interesting to see how Robles operated behind a team set up to get a lot of players on defensive duty in and around the box. That would tell us a lot about the changing nature of the GKs role at Everton and how good Stekelenburg is.

2/ Stekelenburg so far has been up and down in form. Last Saturday he returned to the heroics we saw against Spurs and Stoke. Sandwiched between that though were ropey handling and flat footedness that cost us. I expect that inconsistency to continue and to underline the need for a new #1.
