Anyone know what Southalls been saying about him ? I'd be interested to see what he thinks.

Love southall... daft as a brush and tells it like he sees it... remember when Robles took howard spot against Newcastle I think ( could be wrong) and kept a clean sheet... southall on twitter " great win for the blues... not a single star jump in sight" . He knows what it takes to be great... and he knows where Everton belong...

I'd never even heard of Pickford 8 games ago, now he's potentially our long term #1. Honestly the way the media jump onyoung players as the next best thing before they are even out of nappies is mental.

Who has seen enough of Pickford on here to suggest he's better than Stek or even Joel?

They've moved me a couple of times with no complaints......

Everton manager Koeman rules out January goalkeeper transfer raid

Everton boss Koeman is happy with Maarten Stekelenburg and won't pursue Joe Hart

Ronald Koeman does not intend to go shopping for goalkeepers in the January transfer window.

When Maarten Stekelenburg became a modest first signing of the Koeman era, it was widely believed that the giant Dutchman had been bought as a back up option and a higher priced version would quickly follow.

That didn’t happen - and Stekelenburg’s performances since, including last weekend’s “performance of a lifetime” against Manchester City - mean that Koeman is happy to wait until next summer at least before looking at his goalkeeping options again.

“I am happy with two goalkeepers,” he said. “I want to have a situation with three first team goalkeepers. That is the decision we need to make, but I don’t know if winter is the right time to make that decision for next season.

“I can’t do anything about speculation (surrounding Joe Hart). We are not doing anything about that at this moment.”

Why Everton boss Koeman is discovering the limitations of the squad Martinez left him

Koeman’s statement is vindication of Stekelenburg’s peformances this season - and the speed with which he has settled at his fifth club in little more than three years.

The keeper has proved adept with both his hands and his feet, although Koeman says he does not intend to be seduced by the current trend for sweeper keepers.

Everton View from the Gwladys Street: 'Burnley is must-win - we can't go five games without victory'

“First of all if you can get a good goalkeeper in the goal and he’s very good with his feet then he’ll be the best,” he explained “but if I have to choose one of the two I choose the goalkeeper who will save and not with the ball at his feet.

“I am talking generally.

“The goalkeeper’s job, in my opinion, is the most important. If you can have one that is good at playing from the back that is perfect. Maarten’s quality is he has both.

“He is a good goalkeeper at the back, with a good touch, but I always tell my defenders and goalkeepers: ‘Don’t take too many risks building-up close to the goal or the box’. I hate that.”

I might be wrong but I'm sure @boris mentioned Pickford early last season. Someone definitely mentioned him and said he was going to be a top keeper. I've seen him about 4 games ( probably the same as most on here ) and I've got to say he looks like he's got everything in his locker to be a top keeper.

Pickfords been highly rated for a long long time.

He's been around the England youth set up for years and many believe he will overtake Butland as England's future number 1. Think he's only a year younger that Butland and many on here have been flying his flag over the last year or so, so why not Pickford.

He's done well for Sunderland in the premier this year but, as he's still young, he has been prone to the odd error which is to be expected. Unfortunately, we need the finished article so he's not ready for our first team yet. You need to remember he's only in Sunderland's team due to the injury to Mannone. Be interesting to see what happens when Mannone get's fit again.

Problem we have is Pickford needs game time to continue his development and, in my opinion, would benefit from a year loan out to a championship team. Would he come to us under those circumstances. I think he may, especially if Sunderland are relegated, as young GKs tend to be more patient than outfield players in this regard.

For me, it's Stek for at least the next 2 seasons, unless we bring in a top class GK who's already the finished article.

If we've given him a locker he must be good, just ask Oumar.

I have to admit, I've never understood the need for 3 first team keepers. You have to be incredibly, incredibly unlucky to lose 2 to injury, and I feel like, with 3, you're just going to have 1 more member of the squad who's going to be unhappy stuck sitting on the bench/getting left out of match day squads.

Agree with this . I'd be happy just to get a better quality replacement for Robles.

Cheers lads, it was an honest question, much appreciated.
