Makeshift fullback problem

I would be tempted to try 3 centre backs, given the appalling full back options. The problem is that Dyche is so negative they could quickly become a back 5, with the wingbacks not crossing the half way line, and Dyche would insist on playing Michael Keane as one of the 3.
With a new manager who might set us up to score from something other than a corner or a set piece, it would be a valid option.

It's a back 5 anyway, it's just you have Harrison heading back there instead of an actual defender.

The answer was to buy a left and right back, or loan some. Someone like Tierney or Chilwell would have been great at left back. Right back I’ve no idea but this is typical of us. We buy a big unit centre back for 16m and don’t play him. I would have rather spent that money on a left and right back, everyone knows it. Just not the club. We cannot continue to play 35+ year olds in a league where the attackers are rapid, much younger and a lot fitter, it doesn’t work. That’s why nobody else does it.

But Tierney is also crocked most of the time.

When Patterson came in he was a bit raw but it was clear as day his preferred way of playing is to overlap and get balls in to the box. This means he will never be the type of player that SD wants so he was on a hiding to nothing as soon as Sean walked through the door.

Playing Patterson at RWB with O'Brien Tarks and Branthwaite as the 3 at the back would be fine if we had a LWB who got forward. Sadly that is not Mykolenko or Young so that is a position for which we need a targeted recruit.

Think I'd play O'Neil there in that formation until someone came in. JB is strong enough on the left side to support him and he'll do more in possession than Myko will

Should have been looking to bring in a young lb this seasonnto have around the team with the view to stepping uo next season. Be around the team as a 2/3 rd choice. Crazy how many seasons we have been saying this now was the same about getting pace out wide

I think we should be looking at Serge Aurier and Brandon Williams as free cover with Dyche’s lauded PL experience

Think williams has had off field probelms somebody said here i think but woukd be worth looking at can play both fb roles and atleast worth trial to see

Not a bad shout Brandon William’s, free agent and wouldn’t cost us much in wages and premier league experience. Just looked him up, still only 24, plays mainly as a right back but can also cover at left back.

Clearly a loan for a full back instead of lindstrom would have made more sense

We got Lindstrom when we thought Friedman was taking over, once it fell through all transfer activity pretty much stopped.
