Definitely agree with this. Both of them are desperately out of form and its having a massive affect on us.coleman doesn't look fit to me.everything he did yesterday seemed laboured
He seems particularly lethargic at the start of a match, like it takes him a sustained warm up before he feels confident going full stretch. Rather than running past his winger/fullback he has been making a "safe" pass sideways or behind.

Hopefully a midweek break will help them both recover their early season form.

During the spurs match he had several one on ones with the full back and chose to turn backwards and play a safe pass.the coleman of last season would have attacked but for some reason he's not being positive at the moment. Hopefully its just a blip in form cos hes a great player

Defensively Coleman is fine and still getting better, in attack just watch every time he's taking it to the edge of box he's cutting left and clubs are on to it because he's doing it every single time and there are 2 defenders waiting for him. He needs to add another move or 2 to his game and the threat of a cross.

Agreed mate. He might be reluctant to go round the outside cos of a lack of bodies in the box. My best memories of last season will always be him rampaging down the wing.that goal against Southampton was 1 of the best I've seen at goodison in years

To be fair Deipno, I've read through the last however many pages of the thread and while I suspected it was sarcasm it had gotten to the point where I was starting to doubt my initial assessment and wonder if you'd lost all hope. lol
Sorry mate...I probably did push the sardonic facetiousness a bit far in my posts. It's a bad trait of mine lol

The disgrace of a referee apart...though he was a defining negative for us to say the least, we didn't adapt to or gain the advantage from Aguero's withdrawal. I thought in general we were very sluggish and Coleman looked lost at times not knowing whether he was one thing or another. We are at our best when we up the ante and go direct and at pace as we did somewhat towards the end especially with Barkley's introduction. One of the main things that got me was the frequency with which we lost the advantage from possession...under-paced passing, needlessly reckless passing, poor dead balls hitting the first man and individually poor control of the ball - which all created the lazy look we had all over. Im always optimistic and maybe the "rest" some will have this week will help. I just feel ten times worse when we actually chuck away the chance of at least a point, rather than the opposition conquer us by superior play.

Yep.

The one moment we carved them open was a first time clipped pass from Eto'o into Lukaku and it nearly produced the equaliser only for that Head and Shoulders muppet.

It's a game we would have won if we'd turned up and actually gave it a go in terms of making it a scrap. The loss doesn't bother me as I expected it, but the manner of it hurts, as it wasn't the Everton I know and love out there.

Moyes would have got a point yesterday.
There I said it. Deal with it
Think about it; we're ravaged with injuries, out of form and luck. We visit the reigning champions with Hibbert, Distin and a dodgy Barry. For 20 mins, we keep the crowd quiet, they lose their most dangerous player and things are looking better. Then, one of the most shameful penalty decisions of the season brings us back to earth. The crowd are up for it, City are back into their stride and we're left shocked and frustrated.
What happens next? Overwhelmed? battered? No. I can only recall them having one real attempt after that. We weren't exactly runnung the show but when you factor in another 2 disgraceful refereeing decisions in favour of the side that don't need them, and a world class save from their keeper and any fair minded observer would say Everton didn't do too badly. Certainly not as badly as the 5-1 defeat under Moyes

A balanced reading of the game and where we are at the moment. Frustrating, but people setting there hair on fire and wishing Moyes was back in charge are looking mighty fickle just now.
