Baines did nothing, least neville kept his side of the pitch locked down. You can't compare the quality of the two players but I'm just making that point that in big games Baines goes missing yet everyone just blames Neville when actually solely in this game he didn't do that badly.

Well that's actually the point I'm refering to. Pienaar has been a very poor passer this whole season. What's the point playing one-two's when you mispass every fourth to the opposition?

We were alright but alright isn't anywhere near good enough to get a point at Old Trafford. We should have made more of the midfield possession we had - particularly when it was 1-0. All too often it was the familiar lack of incisiveness, which, whilst the movement and passing was ok for part of the game, wasn't nearly enough when you allow a team like United to get back and smother any hope of an equaliser (or a goal to make it 2-1 in the second half). So, whilst we shouldn't be too worried about losing 2-0 at Man U we had a chance to get at them and failed.

Baines has been one of the most consistent players we have in EVERY game, he had a poor game today by his standards but would not say he choked or was awful.

Played well against City in the last few games against them, played well in the 1st game this season, played well against Spurs, can't really remember his performance against Chelsea but did he choke?

I agree he is usually ocnsistent but its normally against lesser teams. he seems to share the disease a lot of our players do that if they play Man U or Liverpool away they fold. I'm all for full backs overlapping but at times he just bombs off up the wing when its not even on, get caughts, and then eveyrone moans at Heitinga or Distin for a cock up. He's a wonderful attacking player but LB is his first job and he seems to have disregarded it of late with all 3 of aston Villas goals coming from his side again. I know he's good at Goodison, but he hasn't turned up against the so called big 4 away form home for a long time nor in crunch cup games at Wembley.
