"When we counter attack", but if the plan is "sit back and hoof it and hope for the best" it's a death sentence against City. Surely, with the fact this just happened to Brentford, we'd know better?
To be fair, although he can’t score for toffee, DCL is a lot better at holding the ball up than Maupay or Toney (even though Toney the better overall player) so if anyone can win with a few good hoofs it’s us but nah I agree I much prefer when we break with a powerful driving run than a hoof.

If we could get the McNeil from the second half of last season back and a fit Doucoure that would be a big help!

Yes that’s how we played at City last season but Gray spoiled the script by scoring a wonder goal and we went and bleedin’ drew 1-1——————You can never trust Everton to behave!!

Yeah but a middle ground approach exists - "play for 0:0" with Dyche is essentially never getting out of our box for 90 min, which might work, but 1) it's Everton, mate and 2) KDB is sadly fit.

no team
maybe liverpool aside can go toe to toe

in this country no matter your game plan they are to good

it’s just a hope really
to me this is a write off

Same for me regarding write off.

It's not about going toe to toe, it's about having a plan... which for us will 11 men behind the ball, mega hoofs to no one and chaos, form the 1st second.

Brentford beat them last season at the etihad. They had 11 players behind the ball, and whenever they got a chance they counter-attacked with 3 or 4 players at speed and left the rest behind to defend. City always leave massive spaces at the back and Brentford took advantage. Brentford defended for their lives too. It’s a big ask but it’s not impossible.

we can defend and i’m sure that’s the plan lol
we just don’t have the current MF to attack like needed

Brentford had a few breakaways in that game and could have scored a couple more, City had lots of chances as well but only scored one, I thought Brentford deserved to win that game.
