Very impressive display there. We need to build on that performance and the players put in that desire for the rest of the season. I thought Maupay aside, they all worked extremely hard and Doucoure looked a different player when he came on. Needs to find consistency.

I even thought McNeil worked harder than usual and gave us something tonight.

Gray was outstanding, they couldn't live with him.

What I will say last night is that the players actually looked up for it and never seemed 'defeated' like they did during the Brighton game. It seemed obvious that all of them wanted to produce a reaction. The way they reacted after Coady's OG showed that - Gana picked him straight up off the floor and the players seemed to be encouraging each other.

What can one say we were beaten but not tthrashed.

My take on it

1st goal Pickford could have saved that but he thought it was going wide.
2nd goal De Gea cockup, we lucky
3rd goal Coady should have stayed on his feet, trapped it or chase after it and kick it away, Coady cock up
4th goal Offside by half a foot, when one is running how can make sure such little bits are over the line, Thj GFA needs to address this.
5th Goal no penalty IMO he fell over or say dived.

Maupay was a waste of space, should have started Simms or DCL. waste 60 minutes with Maupay on and then to bring McNeil Lampard is a [Poor language removed]. Again why not Simms we need to score.
Quite a few of our lot need lessons in passing.

Concentrate on league now.

Well, it was a better showing than Tuesday, and we made a fair game of it up until the late (soft) pen put a bit of gloss on the scoreline for them. But we were very sloppy with the ball for much of the night - there were seemingly countless times when a pass from one of our players would expertly pick out a red shirt. The only real positive was that it wasn't yet another 3 points lobbed straight in the bin. On to the Southampton game...
