I just find it bizarre.

They’ve tried the superstar route, and it didn’t work or improve them? Why not get a group of players who are desperate to play for them and run through brick walls.

Fans are a joke. He’s managed one game and on his back.
Spoilt arrogant children who thought the they would rule forever. Protesting because they can't sign the biggest players anymore and have only won a few cups and finished outside top 4 a couple of times. Most fans would be delighted with a few cups, not these muppets. The Glazers have been there for years now, but the Norwich scarves only come out when they aren't winning. Pathetic fanbase full of glory hunting foreign fans who didn't sign up for this. The local fans are even worse, grown up men in zebra pants protesting because they aren't winning. It's pathetic.

United were a mess when I was growing up. Occasional cup was about it.
They were still the media darlings throughout the 70's tho, gerald sinstadt had them as the main match on the telly nearly every week and the newspapers used to give the players out of 10 rating none of those great 70's teams ever got a full team 10/10 except Utd

Dont remember that at all. Remember them getting relegated, and beating the RS in a cup final. Thats about it.

oh dear have we found a sore point again , i think i remember a certain group of fans from a club from moss side about 25 years ago wqho attacked their beloved chairman called swales , they even issued death threats to him when he was suffering from bad illness , this same group of fans it turns out their club had won nothing for 15 years or so , theses clowns now act liked paragons of virtue having been bankrolled by abu dhabi , now thats what i call pathetic

Zebra pants? Tell us more of this sartorial delight from down the M62!

After multiple relegations and turning the club into a laughing stock. I'm not condoning the morons who sent death threats but it is hardly comparable. Your bunch of man children are getting games called off and damaging your own stadium because you aren't winning any more. Spoilt entitled children.

You must have seen the middle aged fatty sporting a pair of zebra print leggings whilst parading round the swamp pitch. It was after Gary Neville condoned it all live on air as fans stormed the stadium.

Would SAF get the time he needed to turn them around back then, if he was appointed today? I’d guess he wouldn’t.
Absolutely no way. He would have been gone at the same time Solskjaer got the axe, when the team regressed after finishing runner-up the previous year.

Pep's winning north of 70% because he's managed extremely well-run clubs throughout his career. It's a nearly impossible standard to keep up with. Even SAF only won 60% of the time. Reality is that it will take years for United to play for more than third in the league and cups right now with any degree of consistency, if they are well-run for a while.

It doesn't matter who the manager is. It could be prime Cruyff, prime del Bosque, Ancelotti...doesn't matter. They've just booted too many big money transfers over the last decade.

He would have got slaughtered in 95/96 as well for playing the Class of 92, even more than he did at the time (Hansen's view was the majority view at the time)

Ferguson was one of the rarest of managers in that he backed himself and he usually got it right

With chairmen being more trigger happy and managers being less risk averse, I don't think we'll ever see a Class of 92 winning the double in 96 scenario ever again

I was thinking recently, what must being a Man United fan really feel like right now, especially a 30-something 90's kid Man United fan like I would be

Honestly, though it would be galling to be seeing Liverpool and City do so well, at least I'd have plenty of happy memories to fall back on

I don't think I'd be going OTT and protesting etc

But then again regular success is something I can only dream of as an Evertonian, so maybe I'd have a different view if I'd grown up with my club winning stuff all the time only now to have it taken away?

It's like how James say in Sit Down, "If I hadn't seen such riches I could live with being poor"
