Manchester United

Unfortunately, in terms of achievement, that point has to be conceded to that club across Stanley Park, who topped ManUre in both domestic and European trophies...
I don't think success means "bigger" and United have always had a bigger fanbase. Even the first season of the PL you wouldn't have said the RS were a 'bigger' club.

No im not defending them that much sure we have spent a lot and wasted a lot , but all clubs do and thats the way it is , the game now is a fully fledged business , the fans are an afterthought more than ever
Now you are talking sense and not sounding like a kopite. Its always gone on mate and always will do and as time goes by match going fans are becoming less important sadly. Think football has proved during this pandemic that it can survive with out fans at the stadia. Anyway, back on topic, hope you win naff all and get relegated in the next cple seasons

This is what I replied to: '...In the 70's and 80's United were still the biggest club in the country...' They might have had a bigger number of followers (I don't call them supporters, rather band-wagon jumpers), but they were not the biggest club in the country. They were even in Division 2 for a season in the 1970s!

Please don't be silly with your repies...

Utd are (and have been since probably the 50's) the biggest side in the country.

If you are going to call someone else silly then at least spell properly. Thanks.

Think they were the biggest, but certainly not the best.

The media has fawned over ManUre for decades (don't know if you are old enough to remember).

In one season in the 1970s, after ManUre got off to a great start, the Manc rag (Mirror) headlined one of their pages with 'Give them the title now, it's a one-horse race!', insinuating that the title race was all over, done and dusted.
.
Hence the joke at the end of the season in Liverpool (by both sets of fans): What comes 4th in a one-horse race? ManUre finished behind Notts Forest, the RS & Everton.

So don't serve up the crap that the media has never idolised ManUre. As someone else has posted: we've had that team rammed down our throats ever since the air disaster by the media, even in the times when they were doing nothing.
That was in 1985/86. They won their first 10 games.

Never really been able to hate on United tbh, always be grateful for them putting Liverpool in the shade for 30 years. Hopefully City do the same over the next 30 years.
Hopefully we do the same not city over to you big uzzie I can dream can’t I

Of course but you tried to be smarmy and made a mess of it. 1 nil me.

A bit rich from someone who doesn't know the difference between the plural and the possessive: '...In the 70's and 80's United were still the biggest club in the country...'

So you can shove YOUR smarmy...
