I dislike United but am not really fussed about City.

In the 70's and 80's United were still the biggest club in the country. They benefited hugely when they won the first premier league when serious money started getting pumped into the game but the difference is, they were already huge. City weren't by any means a small club but 18 years ago they were 2 divisions below. They got basically given a new stadium and became an attractive proposition to a very very rich Sheikh who has basically treated them like when you cheat at football manager. Of course other clubs have always and will always spend but the two clubs aren't really comparable.

Unfortunately, in terms of achievement, that point has to be conceded to that club across Stanley Park, who topped ManUre in both domestic and European trophies...

The nickname for Ralph Milne was 'The Heater'...
Because all he did was keep Bryan Robson's shirt warm!
That's always tickled me :D

Bristol City fans could not believe he went to United. For a decent fee as well!

Drink hit him hard post playing. Tried his hand a running a pub near me; not his wisest move.

Yeah you mean like tony cottee 2.2 milion , stuart mcall 825 grand , pat nevin 925 grand all 1988
I agree mate, all big fees and imo too much. The problem is mate, you are starting to contradict yourself. This discussion started with you critisising Citys expendinture, and posters on here have said all clubs over the years have done this to become and stay successful, but for some reason you are defending Utd and their spending, and the last couple dozen posts are provinig that Utd were big spenders. I/we have never denied that EFC have never spent big.
