Manchester United

Comparing your spending to the biggest club on earth at that time is funny.

At that time you was smaller than us, and a mid-table team.....what are United doing spending money they have not self-generated !?!

Do you see where we are going with this yet......
The so called 'self generated' money was generated from the then owner(s) of United by selling contaminated meat to
catering outlets who supplied schools with school dinners. The Edwards family. The biggest sugar daddy's of them all.
Louis Edwards & United were under investigation by the police at the time of his death.
So much for 'The United Way'...

I dont remember United spending hugely in the early Fergie years, as in, pre title. Bear in mind, Trevor Francis was £1m in what, 1978 ish, City spent some daft money in the 80's, (£3.5m on some junk of a player iirc).

Happy to be corrected, but I reckon he got Bruce, McClare, Viv Anderson, and a bit later, Hughes back from Barcelona. Oh, Paul Ince was pre title I reckon.
Pallister (record fee I think) and McClair also come to mind and Jim Leighton also?

They spent £10 million alone in 1 summer, 1989 I think.

Broke records every single summer, while doing nothing in the game to justify the spend.

Pretty much what they cry about City doing.

Have i denied that United have never spent money no , i think you will find even though we were not winning the league we were still the highest attendances around that time so that generates money , i think your bitterness is showing through big time

Im just turning your own City complaints on its head......and it seems a tad similar doesn't it!?!

No different to what City did really.

Why would I be bitter ?? You are obsessed with throwing that term around arent you !?! the crying you are doing about CIty is the most bitter thing on this forum!!! loool

Listen i have no time for Edwards and his mob but i dont think the meat was a massive operation , was swales a paragon of virtue you see this is the problem you have painted yourselves as poor little city the victims , we know its not like that and dear me your present owners have atrocious record with human rights abuses have they not

Oh ffs
Yeah yeah everyone is bitter in football apart from Liverpool and Man U fans.
You have all trademarked that expression to describe other fans ZZzzz well done, congratulations, a truly remarkable feat of a lack of self awareness, bravo :bye:

The lack of self-awareness is blinding here, kopite levels.
Look United have no divine right to win anything , do football fans aplaud their rivals success sometimes but not all the time , Have we spent money of course yes lots of it too , you seem have singled United though as an evil empire that spends money when in reality all clubs do that even those that see themselves as paragons of virtue

If people dislike reading about something dont buy it then , its like saying the papers are always printing stuff about movie stars , celebrities if thats what people think dont buy it and dont watch it

So you quote the 1970s to say that the media fawn over United , maybe the reason is people want to read about them even opposition fans , and here we go again using a plane crash to further your argument , do you think In Spain they dont talk about Madrid and Barcelona or in Germany Bayern etc , what is shows is your biterness

Nah, what YOU show is your bitterness against other fans.

I remember the Munich air disaster - I was 7 at the time and already a massive football fan. I have not use the Munich air disaster to further my argument. I pointed out that the wave of sympathy for the club (which was quite genuine at the time) extended into decades of fawning and sucking-up to the club. There is a difference, but I'm not sure you see it. I have the greatest of respect for many of the players of that club - Duncan Edwards would have captained England in 1966, I am sure, had he lived and continued playing; I saw Best, Law and Charlton destroy an Everton team in a way that I have not seen before or since. So forget your allegation of my using the Munich air disaster as a platform to advance my argument - to do so shows you to be no better than the garbage RS who come on here and insult others. It is an absolute disgrace to advance such a thing in the first place, without any foundation whatsoever. You clearly cannot read and understand the content of a post, gien your claim.

It was not a case of people wanting to read about ManUre - it was a case of the Manchester Mirror thrusting them into everyone's face in the sports back pages of its paper every day. That is the reality and the truth.

I have no reason to be bitter (and I am not). I saw my team lift the league title and FA Cup before the age of 16. And lift a European trophy in later years. A lot of blues cannot say that; but I can. What YOU don't like is that I say it as I see (and have seen) it. And it sticks in your craw. Get over it...

Are you seriously stupid? One buys/bought a paper and read the sports section at the end. Not only for football, but for other sports, like cricket (coming from Liverpool, I was a fan of Lancashire CC). But in going to the last few pages, every day, it was ManUre this, that, and the other. It could not be avoided. It was constant. Equivalent to the modern day media saturation and love-in with the RS...

Listen i have no axe to grind if you think the media fawn over United then thats your opinion , i was born a few years after Munich and yes i can see that there was a lot of sympathy for United after the plane crash , they did have a very good team at the time as you will well know, you are entitled to your opinions but i dont think the media fawn about United as much as people go on about , i mean why would they the only reason they would do it would be to make money
