You are all talking as if money is no object when it comes to Fernandes,£6m there, £8M there and so on...In an ideal world i'd agree that it would be better to sign him permanently right now, but finances are tighter than a lot of people think, and a lot depends on where Fernandes is on DM's list of priorities.£6M could represent 30% of our entire transfer budget, and personally, i don't think Fernandes has done enough to earn a permanent contract up to now.DM may be forced to buy him, but i'll guarantee you he'll be looking to secure a loan first and foremost, whether you lot like it or not.

I don't see many midfielders we've been linked to who'd represent a better value for money to be honest. We've been linked with the likes of Huddlestone, Sidwell, Bradley, Johnson and Engelaar and none of the players mentioned in my opinion are better than Fernandes nor would they cost much less.

Realistically every midfielder we look at is going to cost 6-12 million If we want to step it up to that next level then where going to have to pay the money. Unless Moyes is looking to spend the money on a load of decent 3-4 million players which would give us a bigger squad. I think thats the wrong way to go. We should go for the best realistic midfield option we've been linked with and sign him up.

At the moment Fernandes is certainly up there with the better midfielders we've been linked with. If better options come by and I'd rather us go for them but at the moment I don't see better options.

We may look to a loan but we'll probably end up missing out and he'll go to someone that wants him permanantly.

I think realistically, nobody is looking at Manuel Fernandes for whatever reason. As someone said earlier in this thread the ball is firmly in Everton's court over Manny. If we can get him in on a loan then we might be able to bolster the squad further by adding Huddlestone or whoever else, we might not have been able to previously if we brought Manny in permanently.

At the end of the season I'd rather be looking at option A instead of the 2nd one.

Ins:
Manuel Fernandes (loan)
Lorik Cana (9m)
Huddlestone (6m)
Kallstrom (8m)

Or

At some point you have to marry the bride.

I understand your point about the money we have to spend. But why not bring in someone new on loan instead of going for a third loan. Or, why didn't Moyes negotiated a loan for one and a half years right from the start. He knew already how much would Fernandes cost.

I hope we get him back, if he has a good pre season and gets fit he will be awesone for us.

I would be gutted if he went to Chelsea, but if they do want him which I find hard to believe(they can afford players at their peak)I dont think we would stand a chance.

Is it?? Oh well, I haven't been on the news ball this week. Actually been away from the computer more than normal.
