Sell all of our centre backs apart from Holgate who himself needs to improve to command a starting place. In emergency keep Jagielka one more year for the bench.

Keep Baines to sit next to Jagielka for a year on the bench. Obviously keep Coleman.

Sell Martina too, and Galloway and Browning. Kenny backup for Coleman.

Defensive options of Coleman/Kenny/two new centre backs/Holgate/Jagielka/Pennington(haha)/Baines/new left back

Sign two starting centre backs and a new left back. Do major work to get them working as a unit in friendly games this summer.

I don't think Scheiderlin will be sold, Gueye obviously not. Sell Bolasie, Klaassen, Besic, send Baningime out on loan. Get rid of Rooney and Mirallas. Sign a creative midfield player and a left winger.

Get rid of Sandro, send DCL out on loan.

Well there's only one way to find out...

Monchi wouldn't have had the required experience for a Premier League club either.

The DoF model is one that should - in theory - be able to applied to any club, at whatever scale, as long as the person in question understands the role.
I beg to differ regarding Monchi, I think the relevant experience here is carrying out this role in one of the top leagues in Europe with a proven track record. Holland isn’t a top league, Spain is.

But surely that's like saying Soldado should have been a hit in the Prem because he carried out the role of a really good, consistent, 20-goal per-season striker for four years before he moved from Valencia to Spurs?

I don't know enough about Brands to say he's the best thing since sliced bread, but I don't worry he can 'adapt'. The logic is the same, the money is different. He's said that himself.

And Sevilla never dealt in big money under Monchi either so again there's no saying he'd have been a success either, or not a guarantee anyway.

Hopefully Brands has a list of players that are good enough to play for EFC in the premier league.

My only concern right now is his scouting will likely be players available for PSV for a small fee in a weak league.

You mean players like Dembele, Strootman and Mertens?

My point is mate he'll have likely been spending the last season scouting players who PSV could afford in the summer ie. lesser players costing nomimal fee's and the odd highly promising young player like above who could blossom down the line. Whereas now he'll have to find players quick who are in the bracket up above that who can hack it in the Prem/are in their prime now and who will no doubt come with much bigger price tags.

I doubt it, he’ll more than likely have very good awareness of a lot of players. It’s irrelevant how much those players cost or “the bracket” they’re in as long as they knit together and form a capable team

I think he will have had his ears to the ground for a while in regards to players suited for us with a bigger budget. He said he has known about our interest for 2 years and has stayed in contact with mosh over that time. It’s in this interview: http://www.football-oranje.com/marcel-brands-everton-is-a-great-chance-for-me/#.Wv0xstTDooI.twitter
I think he will have been planning this for a while.

Well yes and no.

There will be players over the years that he couldnt buy, players that he couldnt attract to PSV, that will jump at the chance of joining a Premier league team. Whilst im not saying his job wont be harder, its the same principle.

This guy, and this appointment will mean that Everton will be able to brings players here that would have been deemed just out of our reach in the past.

I think over the coming years, more English clubs will adopt the DoF approach, mainly due to the high turnover of managers.

Certainly seemed to be front and center with transfer policy at PSV.

I think he’ll be the same here and have very much the lead role in deciding on ins and outs.

Very much the continental manager/head coach split. Hopefully it will give us the continuity we badly need and a strong base from which to progress.
