Walsh was a scout. Not a DoF with over 10 years exoerience. Allardyce was the absolutely worst posdible choice of manager for everton which is exactly why he stayed less than 6 months and is hated by majority of fans.

Not saying Brands is world class but other clubs have tried to poach him in the past. We haven't even picked a manager yet but I guarantee whoever he will be better than Allardyce
Chelsea looked at brands and said no.

It’s @Connor who you’re talking about isn’t it, I know he has ties with the club.
I won’t be disappointed if it is Silva. He just wouldn’t be my 1st 2nd or even 3rd choice, in fact he wouldn’t be on my list. But if Brands wants him then he must see something and I’d trust his judgement over my own regarding football and Managers. If it’s Silva I will back him for sure.

In his own head and on FIFA he does, yeh

@Connor

Can someone give a list of players that Brands is generally accepted to have bought/discovered that have gone on to be top players?

Because if there arent any, then that is a major red flag.

Spurs' Moussa Dembele, Graziano Pelle, Sergio Romero, Memphis Depay, Gini Wijnaldum, Davy Propper, Kevin Strootman, Dries Mertens

Propper and Pelle aren't really top players but they've more than held their own for Premier League clubs.

and a current crop including Lozano, Bergwijn. The bigger thing he has done is restored PSV’s academy to effectiveness. He is also very adept at spotting players who need a change of scene and scheme buying well to fit a style of play rather than randomly as it seemed Walsh did.

To those moaning that he hasn’t found/created any top players (he has btw) Steve Walsh allegedly found Kante, Mahrez and Vardy and that bloke was absolutely useless.

Make of that what you will.

Are you saying we should get Walsh in as DOF?

I agree with the principle and that's why we'd have to be careful.

But... what decent, young manager who wants to be the best is not going to have his head turned by better clubs?

If they've got 'ambishunnn' - which is what all of our fans want us to have - then ultimately you can't have someone who is ever happy to be where they are until they're at the very top.

Look at Guardiola, who dumped Bayern off because he knew City were wanting him.

Going on your basis for a 'passionate, hard working' manager, then I'd go for someone like Dyche. But let's face it that's not going to happen - even though I am a big fan of his and I think he could take us forward. Another option would be Eddie Howe, but he reminds me of Martinez.

If Fonseca came to us from Shakhtar, it'd be exactly the same risk as with Silva anyway.
I fully agree, but I still find it scary. Had he ditched Watford at the end of the season, Id be less worried.
