Delph is terrible in hindsight but I can understand why he was brought in. A smart gamble that ultimately hasn’t paid off.Delph was a terrible buy really, clearly done at this level his body isn't up to game after game he never looks fit even in games. Can't blame him for Gbamin that was bad luck. Iwobi was bought to play as a ten. We definitely didn't do well enough in our midfield recruitment last summer mind you. Replacing Gana was always tough we failed miserably.
Schneiderlin away for a couple of million.
Hold on, it was wondered by many of us for at least 12 months why Brands didn't just drop the asking price on the likes of him and get his wages off the bill. In the end, that's what he does, but about £5M in wages was paid out to him last season.
Well Nice wanted him.In order to sell.
Somebody needs to buy.
Unless you think he was batting away offers of 50m from PSG and Real.
Well Nice wanted him.
Just because they want him now doesn’t mean they have in the past.Well Nice wanted him.
But there will have been interest in a player who for the last two seasons at least has been surplus to requirments. The argument has always been that if you drop the fee to rock bottom you at least entice a club to take him off your hands...which is what looks to be the case now.Just because they want him now doesn’t mean they have in the past.

And the counter-argument has always been that even if you gave certain players a free transfer they will still stay at the club who is paying them triple the salary they would get elsewhere.
