I don’t think Schneiderlin will go to Nice if I’m honest. I refuse to believe there’s a club out there stupid enough to buy him. If they inexplicably do buy him then they are utter fools.

Apparently they are now.

Well yes, maybe now with a small child he wants to return to France for his last few years and the opportunity was there. Maybe last summer Silva wanted to keep him around. Maybe he was content to run his contract down and him/his agent weren't entertaining moving on. He wasn't even mentioned in any transfer chat last summer or in january.

Fact is, you and I have no idea what goes on inside the club. We just speculate through the prism of our prejudices and wants. Your impression is that Brands is useless, mine is that he's doing a decent but not flawless job.

Delph...Schneiderlin...Sigurdsson...Bolasie...Walcott...Tosun...Sandro...Keane... all on minimum 70 thousand a week, the top earner on around 120 thousands a week. Not a single one has ever offered us anything remotely decent on a consistent basis , some never offered us a thing ever )Sandro), and some (Delph) have actively made us worse when on the field . Can't sell a single one for even half of what we paid.
Sickens me how much money wev wasted on this garbage

Maybe. And maybe th fee being asked was too high...now remedied by the giveaway €2M price tag, which seems to have done the trick.

Brands is not very good at buying value; he's even less impressive at selling players.

For me he should have walked when (for the second time) he allowed Moshiri and Kenwright to railroad him into accepting another manager brought in over his head.

There has been that many which manager Dave?:)

Personally I think Brands has been good for the club.

We gifted bang average (or below average) players £80-100k+ contracts. Selling those guys isn't easy; why the hell would they want to take a 50% paycut when they can plan a lush retirement without needing to lift a finger instead?

I don't think Brands has been great with his recruitment, lots of average signings and a few good ones, but we aren't as far as we should be. Selling some of those players though is near impossible.

Make them all €2M and watch them fly off the shelf. At least the wages will be saved. The penny finally drops with Brands.

Overall, the feller is useless. A big fish in the small Eredivisie bowl.

Even for £2m, who is going to going to pay Sandro £130k, or Schneiderlin £70k or Gylfi £90k?

If the answer is “no one”, then you’re in an impossible position in terms of flogging these guys until their contracts expire.

Brands said he wouldn't come in for a short fix I appreciate that but this is the time we need to see him work his magic if he has any, and buy more shrewdly, hungry players for reasonable prices rather than big club cast offs.

Sandro was on £3.4M p.a. salary at Everton; he's currently on €4M (£3.8M) p.a. at Real Valladolid.

Take the hit on the fee and cut him loose.
