It's always a worry when you've spent so much money and no one wants to buy any of your players. The idea is you buy the likes of Klaasen for 20 odd million, pick up Sandro on free and then flog them for a fortune in a few years time.

For me, it's just as likely we find ourselves relegated within 5 years as we do being a club in the Champions League.
We wasted so much money and now we are paying for it, Sig for 45mil really wth. Think of all the better players we could have bought for him

....surprised to read Brands is now entering the final 12 months of his own contract. One way or the other, both parties need to address that situation as it creates a little uncertainty.

Our only serious money assets at the moment are Richarlson and DCL. The market is likely to be depressed by at least 30% this windown and next, probably next summer also.

It should be a buyers market, hopefully we get heavily involved.

I think the big boys would wait to see if DCL could replicate this seasons form next year before committing.

Richarlison may be the subject of a bid, I would think in this market 55-60 mill would be the absolute limit.

In those circumstances we should hold tight and if Moshiri can afford it now is the time to invest.

What am i reading here?

Youre valuing Richarlison at £55-60mi ?

How obtuse.

Brands did an amazing job in Holland with no money, now he needs to do it again here.
The amount of dead wood is shrinking but if we want to buy we might have to sell... who tho

Richarlison maybe, he fetch 100 mil, he’s our best player and wouldn’t want to sell

DCL... might get 30+ mil as he’s English

Holgate... get at least 30 mil but wouldn’t sell him as he’s going to be top class

can’t really think of anyone else who will go for big money

I dont see why we need to bring in fees especially. More so remove a huge amount of the deadwood and squad wages.

For an injection of fees though, Kenny, Keane, Mina, Gomes, Bernard, Davies, Delph are all there who can be sold and their fees reinvested.

As he is also on the board, I imagine that appointment overrides that of DOF, though yes, I'm sure he'll want certainty.

We may like the stability of him continuing rather than yet more change, but I can't say outside of that Brands has given strong reasons to want to see him continue in the role.

For me, albeit under difficult circumstances he has been another letdown.

I’m pretty confident we’ll offer him a new long term deal, Brands was always a long term appointment.

....I’d be surprised if the situation goes that long. Ironically, Ancelotti‘s opinion might be the key to what happens. I imagine Brands will sign a new deal this summer.
I’d see how he gets on with the summer transfer window (or autumn now?). We haven’t progressed one bit during his time here.

He has until next June to prove that he is worth keeping around.

Very big year for this fella.

"To see the job through".

FFS, the last thing we need is for that feller to see the rest of the job he's done at Everton through.

Pay him off and scrap the ludicrous DoF role.

It's been a failure.

He is on the board isn't he ,he is going nowhere DBB will see to that .
Some tend to forget the amount he has got rid of up until now ,he had a herculean task and is only part way through it .His job description says he is in charge of the movement of players but of course he is influenced by the manager .What point would there be in him signing players that don't fit the system the manager wants to play OOPS.
Anyway I think he is certainly the man for the job and when Carlo and him get down to business my cup will runneth over .

Why? He hasn’t done a better job than Steve Walsh, for instance.
