He really needs Gabriel, missing out on Carlos first two targets for key positions is not the optics he needs.

I’m not too worried if he misses out on the first names on the list. As long as there are sensible alternative options being considered then it’s not the end of the world. We need players in who are going to improve the squad and we need them pretty quickly. We can’t start next season with that midfield.

Agree it's obviously in the interest of the selling club to circulate it as much as possible, to increase the price.

When you have some out of control teenager at the club who thinks it's funny to go around leaking ongoing transfer negotions, it becomes near impossible to get anything done.

He needs a wad of cash to get anyone in. Even with the free for Bernard he needed to make him the club's top earner and that costs the club £24M over 4 years.

The last excellent cheap signing we made was Walsh getting Gueye for £7M.

Weirdly I thought we signed Branthwaite a mere 5months ago for 750k.

Of course he needs to throw money at players to join a club that finishes 12th, doesn't win any trophies and hardly qualifies for Europe.

Not everybody is like Baines you know, some players need a reason other than us being Everton.
