What ACTUALLY hs he done to revamp the scouting department?

A lot of talk about what this feller does re coaching methods, academy development etc...very little proof he's doing anythign of the sort.

Do we have any documented evidence of his role outside of scouting players who failed to make it at decent Euro clubs? I dont think we do, but I;m open to persuasion....

....here’s how I think it works:

The DoF and Manager agree a playing strategy, analyse the squad, determine the positions that need strengthening and the ‘types‘ of player that fit (as well as those that are surplus to requirements, those to be offered new deals etc). The DoF identifies targets, the Manager will throw his twopenneth in if there’s specific players he wants.

The DoF works with the Board on budget. He has a spend envelope. Working with the Manager he prioritises acquisitions based on monies available. The manager and DoF have the power of veto.

The DoF scope includes Academy strategy, manager & coach appointments etc.

The DoF is accountable for all signings, good and bad. Some will be generated by the Manager and there’s no doubt Ancelotti’s reputation and personal intervention will help secure players. The DoF would be mad not to exploit Ancelotti’s reputation.

If a team is to be successful, the DoF and Manager have to work as a team and be on the same page. Their appointments are the most important in the club.

What happens with Brand’s contract situation in coming months will tell us lots about how the process is working at EFC.

I would add under the DoF scope would be putting a scouting/recruitment structure in place.

What do you want evidence of?

Ive already given you evidence of him overseeing 110 transfers in and out.

You can see evidence of his recruitment with regards Carlo being in the dugout, Richarlison, Digne and Gomes in the side.

Hes currently working on deals for Allan and Hamez.

But none of this is good enough for Dave, 64, from Skem.

He's basically Sid Little to Ancelotti's Eddie Large.

At the start of the 20/21 season the squad will be managed by Ancelotti and could very likely have James Rodriguez, Allan, Doucoure, Richarlison, Digne, Gomes in it.

When Brands became DOF the squad was managed by Allardyce and had 1 decent player in Gueye with the rest horribly average.

That is improvement.

For the 12th time, Board members don't have contracts, they are appointed to the Board and then voted off as when.
