The big reason to go with a DoF is usually argued to be continuity in style and method in terms of the identity of the team. Yes, that's an undoubted plus, but there's no reason it cant be done without a DoF. Look at the way Swansea under chairman Huw Jenkins' control hired managers of a similar ilk to maintain the style of the club when they were going up the leagues and consolidating in the PL.

The big issue for me with a DoF (and we saw this in spades with Walsh/Koeman) is that it breeds a culture were no one takes responsibility for the actions on the pitch. Manager and DoF invariably in a crisis spin against each other to friendly journos and the whole thing becomes a mess.

The DOF model works, just need the right DOF, which we have now, K an W didn’t get on and fought over signingcwith no real plan. Kenwright and RE fired him.

Under Brands it’s his way or he will fire you... he buys the players, he will discuss with Silva? An then he will buy the players based on the system he (Brands) has implanted and Silva will use the players to that style.

Brands seems to me like Moyes in the transfer market, goes very in-depth about the player including his character. Hopefully he doesn’t have David’s dithering

Exactly...I hope the guy's a resounding success but I've had enough of the saying; it's time for doing.
 
Very simple task ahead Mr Marcel. Keep Coleman, Pickford and maybe Sigurdsson because your predecessor spunked 45m on him when he was worth 20/25m tops.

Yeah just them 3 and keep a few of the younger players, not all mind because I think some may be a touch overrated.

So keep 7 of current squad and the rest......

The in depth thing is what we need, I read Walsh was more stats based and that does make a lot of sense. We bought players like Keane who I said would never be able to make the step up because of his mentality.

You need to go past the fact that he was one of the best defenders in the league the previous season. Its a massive step up from Burnley to Everton. The same will go for Sandro and Klaasen, they had the stats, but their physicality isn't right for the prem.

I very much doubt Walsh was all based on statistical analysis. If he had of been we wouldn’t have signed half the players we did. I really don’t know what method Walsh used on 1st team players other than it was complete gash!
By default Brands must be better and I hope he takes an innovative and in depth approach to statistical analysis.

I partially agree but would like to see what Brands and Silva can do with some of the players that have disappointed....you never know we might have a siggy worth 45m. We paid a lot of money for some players and there has to be a reason for that and a reason they have been poor here....could be just the management. I am sure we will find out sooner rather than later if Brands and Silva rate them

I have been banging on about a 5 year plan for the club, about bringing in someone with a long term vision to develop the whole club not just the first team and it looks like we might just have that in Brands. Hearing what he has to say about what he intends to do makes me think the new manager is of lesser importance than Moshiri and the board. It would appear that Brands will manage the manager but the big question is ""will Moshiri and the board give him sufficient backing to do all he wants to do"?
We are in interesting times my blue friends.

Well, only time will tell really.

Let's face it, we know nothing about him or his capabilities. You cant read anything off his Dutch club performance.
 
Might be a good idea to sell our unwanted players in a fire sale. I fear nobody will give us real cash for the likes of Williams, Bolasie, Martina, et al. I'd literally consider giving Williams and Martina away, even subsidising their wages 10-20% for a year just to get them off the books. What's the alternative? Keep them here, pay 100% of their wages until contracts run out? Bolasie, Klaassen, Sandro, sell the for as close to 10m as possible, or get them out on loan with an obligation to buy for a knockdown price and we fund half their wages for first season.

Besic, somebody will take him for a million or so. Schneiderlin may be tempted to go back to France if we top up his wages for the first season. Some team may be soft enough to throw 8-10m as us for him.

Rooney, do anything to get him gone. Free transfer, just agree for him to leave. DC will pay 100% of his wages.

We will have to be very creative to get the huge piles of dung out of Finch Farm, unfortunately.
