But thats what happens at any football club. There are periods of high expenditure and times of frugal operations.

I prefer to think of it as trimming the fat of a really nice piece of meat and using the excess to add to somewhere else in the meal. In this case dripping for the Yorkshire Puddings.

Its a long game that will take 2-3 windows before we start to see the end result taking place. If a few coaches have to go on the way then I can accept that as long as we all can see s clear direction taking place.

It's all very comforting talking about trimming fat and being lean. The likelihood though is that we'll keep ageing players with little value like Baines and Jagielka and Williams, have to retain players on high wages because they wont move readily, and then sell someone like Pickford if a big offer comes in.

While obviously a possibility that we cannot shift all the players we want in a single window, there will be other clubs in the Championship who might want the experience of such players like Aston Villa did last season who are prepared to take the risk.

The point is though we have been setup like the club you describe for the best part of 2 decades now. At least we can see some structure is being applied to the club instead of the scattergun approach that was used for the last 2 seasons.

The conclusion to draw from that time though surely is that you need money to be better spent rather than going back to austerity?

But then Austerity is just another avenue to generate money.

Player Sales/TV Money/Marketing/Reduce Overheads

If it was sell to buy or austerity we'd be looking to sell our most valuable players, that's the whole point of sell to buy

We won't even be entertaining doing that so it's obvious what's going on, get rid of the wank and for every 2 wank players gone bring in 1 quality one

We have good players????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Hasn't been seen infront of a camera since that presser has he?

Hopefully next time we see him he'll be smiling as he's shaking the hand of a top player, complete with Everton top and flashing cameras.
