He wanted Monchi.
Suspect Monchi would have brought a similar level of competence that Brands seems to have done

Both those guys know and understand the role of DoF, and are completely comfortable in it. Unlike Walsh who while he may have been an excellent scout, clearly didn't understand (or wasn't allowed to do) the job of DoF

Seriously youre creating a complex equivalence
There is no relationship between how walsh turned out and what will happen with Brands
Two different men
Two different occasions
UNCONNECTED
Seriously if you think its your job to tell people when and why they can and can't celebrate youve got a problem

I'm just pointing out that people celebrated last summer and that Walsh was superb.

You would think we would learn from that.

Instead of going over the top with praise for Brands we should give him a chance first before putting him on a pedastal to knock him down.

Some realism and patience is needed.

It is right for people to be cautious after last season, but I think St Domingo made a great point about the fall from grace after 1970, and it seems that now we may have for the first time in ages a plan in place to try and regain our identity as a club and move forward. Brands seems to bring a calm assurance to his dealings with players and other club officials, while having the nous to walk away from a deal when he feels something is not quite right. Yes there will be hiccups along the way and we don't know yet how Marco can get these players to work together as a team and hopefully play some good football in the process. To me, who was brought up on the exploits of Catterick's sides, it seems that some sort of stability at our club is needed to progress, and after this window I think Brands has made the first steps towards that goal. Now up to Marco and his players to try and maintain and build on Marcel's foundations.

There IS NOTHING to learn
Last summer was last summer
It was a different set of people. Different situation
A different set of expectations
Weve had enough misery ... lets have fun til the fates prove me wrong which , my friend mr moomin , they probably will ... but untill then
I am going to feel more upbeat than at any time this year

You look at what Monchi has done at Roma too, and think what Brands can do here. I put them at similar levels.

I’m pretty certain he went for Brands after Monchi

I think that could be correct as well, but the banned poster @bizzaro says we went after Brands first.

Even though at the time Monchi was our primary target and we had talks. That said poster even said he was our primary target at the time.

Think @bizzaro believes everything Myers says on twitter. So should be good to see that German leftback start later and who replaces Pickford.

Last summer most people were not praising bringing Rooney back, they werent happy with Siggurdsons costing as much as he did, and people were split on Klaassen. And its a different thing having high hopes for a group of players brought in from the likes of Barcelona, and Chelsea, players from Brazil, then players brought in from the likes of Burnley, Ajax, and Swansea.

Was happy with Pickford last summer, Rooney was always going to be a meh, Klassen wasn’t needed espicslly with gylfi, I like glyfi but we got royally fleeced, Keane I thought was a good buy totally wrong there same as Sandro. Vlasic and Henry are Punts I don’t mind these kind of signings.

Looking at this year.

Dinge left back sorely needed big tick for the team there even thought it’s obvious
CB Mina and Zouma hard to say how they will fit but both are pacey and imposing important for high lines added bonus of not being Keane or jags.
Richy probably not a huge need at the time but familiar with the manager and looks absolutely class so far.
Bernard Bosman ruling anyone bashing this is plain stupid.
Gomez CM with the right attributes on loan perfect signing and low risk as well.

Whilst it’s hard to predict how the team will go we have targeted weaknesses like cb and lb and added pace going forward if all works out a CF and Mid is the next priority

People were not split on Klaassen, it was only @davek who said he was not worth it. Look back and everyone was going over the top with praise for Walsh in July last year.
