Gomez came from Charlton tho £3m

He is our lookman if u will.

Thing is they seem to have a coach who can further these types on. I'm not seeing that here.. As it stands

Well he's done it with Richarlison... Keane looks a completely different player (for the most part). Calvert-Lewin's all-round game seems to have improved although there's a long way to go.

Hopefully the loans for Holgate and Dowell work out, like it seems to have for Vlasic. Maybe him and Onyekuru won't be good enough, but maybe they will and there's a good chance we could have them both involved next year. Same for Holgate and Dowell. I think Lookman has the potential to have a big impact for us in the second half of the season.

I agree with what you are saying, not debating that at all, I meant through to their first team.

My whole original point was about the dilemma of playing youngsters. They have brought some through to their first team as they were good enough to carry them.

Yep, we have plenty of hypocritical fans who want to have their cake and eat it.

We all do it to an extent. Moan about having no success, but then moan about our young players, when the point is we have to try and build something sustainable by improving our young players... But to do that while being successful you need quality in there as well.

Both Keane and dcl have struggled for any sort of consistency..

I wouldn't say both players have come on leaps and bounds at all.

Richy is a Brazil regular. Its not like he needs coaching to that next level.. He's already there!

I think Keane has really come on this season, he looked dead and buried last season and now hes POTENTIALLY our best CB, not a lot between him, Yezza and Zooms for me anyway. DCL looks a bit better as well, wouldnt say massively like.

Rico didnt score a single goal this year before he joined us, he only got a cap for Brazil under us, to say he hasnt blown up is a bit silly Frank.

I mean most people have gone from "Did Everton overpay" to "Did Everton underpay" in 4months.

Well know alot lot more at end of season as to exactly how good narcos coaching has been..

Richarlison is thre only relevant one as he's a striker...and he had PL experience.

Gomes , Mina and Bernard all took time to make appearances and Mina and Bernard are still getting used to the league and will both be up to speed by the end of the season

I honestly would save your fume mate. If one thing his first window told us, its that he operates under radio silence. Richarldson aside, no one had a clue who he was working on.

Even R9 came as a surprise as it was Malcom that was looking like the player we were tracking and fighting for, same with digne tbh, teirney in the papers then boom digne signed and Bernard came from nothing , one day I read we hadn’t signed him and nothing mentioned before

Hold on. Isn't this why Brands is idolised by some people - that he can get the value deals?

Aren't I just expecting/demanding what his apostles say he can do?

Sometimes dave certain deals can not be done , look at stones and Chelsea ,

Sometimes dave deals just cannot be done. Look at stones and Chelsea, we wouldn’t sell and held all the cards. We are ata level where finding players to improve us that actually want to sign for us is harder due to the quality we already have. Him identifying a player and being told no, not now and then signing him in the summer is still preferable than signing his 2nd ,3rd or even 4th choice target in January imo. Saying if he doesn’t do this or that I’m jan makes him a failure isn’t right. Like the manager he must be judged after he has had a decent amount of time to balance the books, trim the squad, offload the wages theives and improve the current first team all while trying to sign younger players for the future, while also getting these players at the right time and price . It’s not as black and white as signing a striker in jan, then RB, CM, RB in the summer

He does need to deliver the value deals or we will not succeed, that is for certain.

We only need to win three on the bounce for people to start vastly overrating the squad, the reality is that there is much work to do.

There isn't much value to be had though, not these days, every club has its golden goose now.

I still expect him to target the so-called cheaper markets, in particular Northern and Eastern Europe and South America for new signings. Interesting in the echo article that there is also a Balkans scout. I thought for several years that we largely limited ourselves to the domestic market, to our disadvantage both in football and value for money terms.

I wouldn't be surprised if the fee paid for Sigurdsson stood as our transfer record for several years to come, the business of putting a decent squad together will be a delicate balancing act between what we pay per player and the numbers we need.

I just hope there is a season by season plan though and it is reviewed from a harsh mindset each year. As the saying goes if you don't know where you are going, you don't know how to get there.

Bottom line is though, there is no silver bullet to ensure success. DOFs at every club will all spout the same thing and put roughly similar structures in place. We are playing catch up and hoping that Brands has a touch of genius about him which is really a shot in the dark. The proof will be in the evidence.
