When hes selling players hes bought, thats when.

This, he can’t be judged until Walsh’s signs have been sold or their contracts expire. In the mean time he need to get whatever he can for them or Loan them to decrease wages. The next two years is all about balancing books and offloading them while trying to spot talent. After those two years when players like richy etc are being sold and he reinvests the money, that is when you will see if he’s good or not and be able to judge him fairly and accurately. So far I would say that none of his signings have been bad, Mina is the only one with a ? Over him imo. Digne was an outstanding bit of business, Gomes ? He has played a blinder and got a really good player for an excellent price and he is already settled, Zouma was a decent signing although 7m loan fee ( if that accurate ) is a lot, if we get him I am sure it will be for a decent price as brands doesn’t seem to go over what he thinks is good value for a player, richy was a very good signing ability wise and I originally thought 45m was very high and I didn’t want him. If he was sold today he would make 20m profit minimum , Bernard was the kind of signing I would never have expected under previous managers etc and I really like him and think he will benefit from having a year here and really become consistent this season, even if we sold him for his 40m clause that’s still a massive profit. I have complete faith in brands atm for the reasons above and am really looking forward to watching who he brings in

Don't be coming round here with yer optimism

It is a shocking decision, because anyone who has half a clue about football can see that Dowell has vision - more vision than most in Everton's first team.

Well it's not like Silva was playing him every week

Does he take any of the blame in your world or is it all on Brands?

I'm willing to bet that if Silva said to Brands "I want Dowell, he's in my plans", then he wouldn't have been loaned

But he clearly didn't and also seems to rate the likes of Davies and Joe Williams much higher than Dowell. Just the way it is

I'm picturing Silva turning up Monday morning and looking in all the cupboards and under the desks wondering where he left his Anthony Dowell back in May. Then asking Brands if he's seen him lying around whereupon he shuffles some papers and mumbles a bit.

Which would make sense if we had a manager who plays like Klopp does but last season Silva had us playing with Gomes raking the ball off the centrebacks, full backs pushing up, moving the ball across the pitch, through the lines to Siggurdson. If we want to play that way we need better midfielders.

If we want to play like Leicester then we would need to buy players like Kante and have a lightning quick striker. Instead we have players like Bernard and Siggurdson who don’t suit counterattack at all. We’re not able to throw world record fees at keeper and centreback to allow us to play a tactic where our midfield can just press forward like Liverpool’s do and allow their front three to wait on the counter.

But Gana is exactly like Kante. Drinkwater was in there with Kante and we all acknowledge that we need a striker. Leicester also did it with Danny Simpson and Mark Albrighton playing the majority of games and a centre back pairing of Robert Huth and Wes Morgan. The weakness of the top 6 that year was also a factor.

The way we played last season changed somewhat over the course of a number of months and some very patchy form. It is arguable that we got better results when Gomes was out injured. I don’t agree that we play through Gomes from the back and I don’t agree that Bernard and Siggurdson can’t play on the counter and we have already paid a record fee for a goalkeeper.

Our strength towards the end of last season was built around consistency, creating chances and keeping the ball out of our net. Easier said than done! It remains to be seen what we can do this season but I’m optimistic we will hit the ground running.

Silva isn’t the first manager who doesn’t seem to fancy him either. Constantly loaned out and not given first team opportunities despite seemingly tearing it up in the lower age groups U23s etc.

Funny how we can sometimes think that we can see this gem of player yet the coaching team don’t give him a chance. There’s no mystery, he and many others just aren’t good enough and those who make the decisions know more than we do.

Or even, I think Dowell has potential but he needs regular game time to be at the level to push for a first team slot. Let him get the experience out in loan.

They're not "Walsh's signings" they're Koeman's signings.

Sandro struck me as a Walsh signing , koeman looked like he lieterally couldn’t be arsed even doing the coaching side as it got in the way of his golf. But koeman or Walsh ... does it really matter? They’re not his signings and he’s having to deal with the mess.

It does matter. Koeman wanted 'name' players' in and paid insane cash for them.

Time all this "Walsh did this and that" nonsense ended.
