Hard to tell with them but pretty sure Koeman was a big fan of Bolasie and Klaasen.

Tbf Sandro had a good season for Malaga was looking good for Spain u21s and I’m not sure there would have been many who would have predicted how poor he turned out
No one will persuade me that fat headed Dutch disaster wasn't at the back of every decision made on fees and wages during his 18 month wrecking ball of a career at Everton.

How do you know this Dave ?

As it happens I do agree that Walsh does get a bad press on here , but then I believe if he had been given a different title such as head of youth recruitment he would be regarded in a totally different light.
I think he certainly had ability in finding good young players and that is where his strength lies.

However, I don't know how any of us can know what the decision process between Koeman and Walsh actually was.
There's easy ones like Klaassen and Bolassie and Siggurdson and Schneiderlin who Koemageddon lauded before buying. Almost certainly Gueye was a Walsh signing - it's so much like the Kante signing. Lookman would also have been a Walsh signing.

Does it really matter?

Brands signs ALL the players now, coneboy Silva better treat them better than he did last season.

It matters because some here are intent on a comparison between Brands and his 'predecessor'...as if that's a like for like situation. It isn't.

Well for me it was the same, Walsh should have been the 1 signing the players, but sadly the man was an utter coward and from what I can see we had everybody signing the players the last few years Bill got in Rooney, Moshiri Tosun, Walsh and Koeman signed players without any reasoning.

So now its up to brands to sort out the mess, the sensible people can see its not a 1 or 2 window thing, we need these highly paid losers contracts to expire.

I personally don't like the idea of a DoF either

To me, everything the DoF does should be something the manager is capable of doing, but sadly we're stuck with the DoF system now and if we're going to have one I think Brands is a good choice

There’s not enough hours in the day for a manager to do everything a DoF does and be a manager.

They're not "Walsh's signings" they're Koeman's signings.

This post is an inherent issue with the DoF system. Who do you hold accountable when things go wrong and who do you praise when things go right?

Does the manager have any responsibility for the incoming and outgoing of players in a DoF system or not, or should they be judged solely on how they coach them?

The trick is not changing your DOF wit the same regularity as your manager. Only in that way will it be successful or worthwhile.
