No Niasse going to Germany, possible that Marcel’s found a suitor for our Oumar?

I see two possibilities with this. Firstly are being used by Palace to pressure Arsenal, maybe even with our consent (for agreement of signings later in the window).

Secondly we feel we can offload certain players (McCarthy/Tosun/Niasse) to Palace who they are happy to discount in the cost of Zaha. So maybe he is thinking it's hard to offload one or more of them, so it's kind of two birds with 1 stone?

I would not discount the first possibility at all, though it seems somewhat underhand and not in keeping with maintaining good relationships with other clubs. I would not be happy to learn two other clubs had connived to drive up the price of a player a 3rd club / we wanted, but I guess those types of tactics are probably more commonplace than people think. If that is the case, then what goes around comes around and we get bitten too, sooner or later.

Nor would I discount the second possibility, but if that was true then any sense of logic and rational thinking has gone completely out of the window at Palace. To take any one of those players would be excellent for us to simply get rid, to take all three would be sheer stupidity on Palace's part and outrageous good fortune on ours. I think they might well end up with McCarthy and Tosun, and whatever the circumstances, that would be marvelous for us.

The reality is they are all ok Premier League players. Palace, particularly under Hodgson will want to maintain their status and all three players guarantee you a degree of consistency of performance. I only see them signing one of Niasse/Tosun though.

Have you possibly considered that may not have been an option with Zouma?

Also, isn’t this one of those “wise after the event” posts? Don’t recall the clamour on here to get Zouma on a permanent the time, nor the horror that we’d just signed a Barcelona & Columbia’s international defender.

Can only talk for myself, I said at the time I thought Zouma was the better centre half. Over the years i've developed an aversion to signing players who've had a good world cup. With regard to Chelsea selling him do we really think that if we'd have offered same fee we paid for Mina that they wouldn't have sold us Zouma when he wasn't in the manager's plans?

I definitely think he'll get the players in but the timing is poor. It looks like DCL will be leading the line against Palace sigh.

Just get players in through the door now. Forget the whole selling thing, it’s not happening, we can’t give these clowns away. But we need 3/4 players in the next 10 days regardless.
