I want Barnds to GTF back where he came from and for Ancelotti to take command of the player hiring and first team coaching. That's what we've had in the past, and we didn't do too shabbily out of it.

If we had no DOF (or one of the calibre of Brands) Ancelotti may have refused the job.

Ancelotti has NEVER worked at a club without a DoF.

So his tried and trusted method of signing players is to leave it to his DoF.

This is correct.

No mate. He identifies a player then hands the task of buying them to a DoF. That's a big difference to what Brands signed up for where he would come up with players and run them by the manager.

Can you imagine Ancelotti deferring to someone like Brands?

No Dave. Ancelotti would identify a type of player and may even pass a name...

Brands then goes over the analysis with the scouting team and gives a list of players to the manager which they discuss and put into order.

Brands then goes after the targets in order of priority.

yes, a god damn dream team that’ll deliver success

Very well respected pairing throughout the globe.

Dream team DOF + Manager
Money
New stadium
Strong nucleus of 5 or 6 players with another 6 or 7 good players in the squad.

Huge amounts of dross leaving in the next 2 summers to free up wages

Marcotti having a bit of rant

Spoke well there...the only barrier is the revenue to cover the regulation side on spending.

Ancelotti - “Farhad asked me to come here and use my experience and my knowledge to improve the team, to make them better. I was convinced by the fact that they really have good ambition, they really love this club. I spoke with Farhad and also Bill Kenwright, the chairman who is really passionate."

Brands: not even a marginal figure.

WTF is the point?

Brands is being sidelined according to :

Wilson: "Everton’s revival under Duncan Ferguson appears to have seen the club turn a corner in terms of results – at least they can see a way out of trouble now and the caretaker manager has successfully mobilised the Goodison atmosphere".

Did he see the Arsenal home game?

Dave you can not just be happy for once?
We’ve got Carlo regardless of who he spoke to and who’s choice it was.
Ferguson got us much needed points and Goodison bouncing again against the odds when we couldn’t see anything but defeats.

I am happy with the appointment. But it's appropriate to point out utter BS when you see it in the press.

This Thread is an echo chamber of despair. A year ago, Brands was a magician, now his public enemy no 1.
Get a grip.
The scale of the problem he is dealing with at Everton will still take another two seasons to sort at least. There are players signed from previous regimes on huge wages that are just unshiftable.
He is also unable to sign players for the under 23 squad. That was meant to be one of his particular areas of expertise.
The situation goes far further back than Brands appointment.
his first season signings were good. This years will probably still turn out well in the long run, and now we have a manager who will hopefully be a better motivator.
