Entirely my point - not enough interest, player decides "meh may as well leave on a Bosman than play in Scotland".

Too many of those instances. Again, Brands has had five transfer windows to sell the likes of Besic and completely failed to do so.

So you're telling me his inability to move on, say, Mo Besic, a 28 year old current Bosnian international, to no other team in world football for a fee, is acceptable?

We've overpaid a lot of crap yes, but not to the extent it's impossible to get rid of these players - Brands has just made look impossible. He's been applauded in the past for shipping out Schneiderlin/McCarthy, but on the other side of the coin you can't ignore his failings with many others. It's literally his job.

Really? I don't know the specifics of Besic's contract or what has happened in regards to his transfers but I do know that he's currently very well paid and I doubt any other club is gonna come close to that. It can't be forced unless there's a willingness from all parties to make something happen.

It was very difficult for Real Madrid to get rid of Rodriguez for years on a permanent deal and he's bona-fide world class. They still have Gareth Bale on their books and have failed to offload him permanently. At the other end of the scale and probably more in keeping with Besic level players Chelsea only got rid of Lucas Piazon after 10 years of loan deals and not playing for the club.

It can be virtually impossible to get shut of a player who is happy to see out a contract, moreso in the current climate where a lot of clubs lower down the ladder are not generating enough revenue to justify gambling on a lad who's barely kicked a ball. Players running down deals is a thing at a lot of clubs but because it's at the club we support the Besic issue seems bigger and somehow unique to Everton or an explicit Brands failing.

How can one sell player if he does not want to go and there is no club wants him or will meet his wages?

I agree to a point but you don't know the extent of the wages situation, especially with James coming in. That would've added more complexity to it

It's true, we should've definitely replaced with at least 1 attacker even just for cover. But I do think letting Walcott go was purely down to wages and a team wanted him, so we let him go.

Kean...wouldn't be surprised if he just wanted out.

And as for the Villa buying a "decent" player...isn't that the problem? Spending £20mill or even £50mill on "decent" still leaves you with average stuck on the books.

I do expect that with Bernard and Walcott going, that's £220k a week off the books, Bolasie (£75k) and Tosun (£60k) that's another £135k a week, we should see incomings.

Whether Jan or not we'll see

I have no issue at all with the players leaving mate, not one. But there needed to be better quality brought in whether they were here or not. Now they've gone, and their wages are clear (mostly), we have to move.
