Gbamin wasn't injury prone til he came here. And was he expected to use his crystal ball to see son break gomes ankle too?
James I'll give you but he was still worth it
Gomes was injured when we signed him.

Gbamin is the definition of injury prone. 2 games in 2 seasons.

We are still knocking around the same positions after three years of Brands.

But Brands didn’t buy an “injury prone” player in Gbamin did he? His injury record was excellent at the time of his signing as I’m sure you well know.

Gbamin had numerous injuries before including 4 previous thigh issues.
Missing a couple of games due to a minor thigh injury is hardly evidence of injury proneness. They were small knocks that every single player gets. Given the amount of 90 mins he comfortably completed after those minor injuries that every single player gets I think your cursory glance at TransferMarkt might not be the damning indictment on Everton's medical checks that you think it is.

There has been speculation that his first major injury wasn't treated correctly and his recovery was rushed which led to it being exacerbated and breaking down badly because of that. His second (Achilles) was just bad luck. It happens.

Like any DOF there are justifiable criticisms of Brands just as there are things he's done well. The vast bulk of it on here though is often wildly speculative and shaped to fit the posters personal view of what the narrative should be.

None of us know for sure what his remit is from those in charge behind closed doors. There has been a huge overhaul of the scouting networks on a world-wide basis among many other things. The average age of the squad has come down, the average value has gone up. Everton are now seen as a tough club to negotiate with in terms of transfers and the climbdown in fees being asked for major transfers such as Allan and smaller deals such as Josh King are there to see.

Players like Besic and Bolassie have been out on loan and haven't been chased up afterwards. They've both had massive injuries and may well not be willing to lose out on their contracts at Everton. There are players like that at clubs all over the world. It's not a unique to Everton thing that's symptomatic of an incompetent DOF. It could be argued that a truly incompetent, or desperate, DOF would be required to take them to another club.

Like I say, it's difficult to fully know what he's being asked to do and how it compares to what we think he's supposed to be doing.

He missed an average of 3 games a season til he came here
I just know he has had thigh issues before then got another here that's all. In any case it's the ruptured achilles tendon that is the really serious injury, possibly even career ending. I know people just look at the games missed bit but i work as a physiologist and it's actually the days out that are more important as there are no guarantees that player would have actually been picked to play in that specific match so to speak, hence why it's the days out that are more important, for example id love to know what that 'knock' was in 15/16 that left him out for over 3 months. I have said on here many, many times before people really should just forget about him and leave him be and he will do his thing and if and when he is ready we will see him.

Gomes had an injury when we signed him on loan. He subsequently recovered and then had an impressive season playing numerous full games where his longest spell out was through suspension.

His subsequent injury was hardly through proneness was it?

He had exactly the same type of season he is having now i.e. extremely inconsistent.

The Son injury wasn’t his fault but he consistently picks up knocks now and was injured when we signed him. He is unreliable and injury prone.

I see the rumours of him wanting out have started....and from a so called blue from sport witness, cant stand him on twitter.

No Dave, that’s not what’s meant. He’s always wanted control over the academy like they do abroad - all youth sides playing the same way as the first team so they’re ready, better chances at getting into the first team etc

We have academy managers in place but brands has been weeding out academy/scouting employees for a year or so - Atheltic reported it as well - as he wants his own people
Well, I know a couple and haven't heard mention of this weeding out.
