No Dave, that’s not what’s meant. He’s always wanted control over the academy like they do abroad - all youth sides playing the same way as the first team so they’re ready, better chances at getting into the first team etc

We have academy managers in place but brands has been weeding out academy/scouting employees for a year or so - Atheltic reported it as well - as he wants his own people

Apparently we are streamlining.

I don't know what it means on the ground. Would like to see us do something quite radical with the academy to be honest, and would be good if he started getting his teeth into that.

Why do you think hes weeding people out?

Great - so he wants to gut Everton of Evertonians?

He wants to gut Everton of people who aren't qualified to do their assigned job and are only there because of a jobs-for-mates culture. Hear hear.
Football clubs used to be like families. That is why they had distinct personalities. Rather helping club servants improve, he wants to get rid and bring his own company men in to strengthen his power base.

And achieve something. Nepotism happens everywhere and frankly I can’t think of many cases in my industry where the people are any good.

Because Everton's "distinct personality" over the past 25 years has been something to proud of is it? The envy of everyone else?

We're a glorified charity.

What's wrong with that exactly? The only ex player at the club that in anyway deserves to retain his spot is Ferguson, the Under 23s have stagnated since the title wins, so have the u18s in recent seasons though they at least don't have a former first teamer in charge (Paul Tait was released without playing a game in 94)

His last summer window was phenomenal(to use a Roberto term), 5 for 5 on Godfrey, Allan, Doucoure, Nkounkou and James. If he can do anything close to that 1 or 2 more times this team will be hard to keep out of the top 4 each season. If he can keep making amazing transfers like the James deal and the Godfrey deal were all hopefuly he sticks around for the next 20 years.
