2020/21 Marcel Brands

Iwobi still has value, as does Bernard who was a free transfer. The other lot were literally un sellable.(Bolasie, Besic, Niasse, Schniderlin, Tosun, Walcott).

He also has made some great purchases, Digne, Richarlison, Godfrey Alan, Rodrigues, and made the decision to stick with DCL and Holgate and Davies.

We are also stopping giving youngsters crazy contracts.
An£ have been more ruthless in moving them on.

Branthwaite and Nkounkou look promising, as do Gordon, Simms.

The number of players is gradually reducing and in my view the squad is improving, but with some obvious areas to strengthen.

I mean let's face it, Allan and James are here because of Carlo and Carlo only. They wouldn't even be players Brands would probably sign.

He's made some really bad mistakes too - Delph, for example.

Look, I'm happy he's staying, i'm happy to see something sustainable trying to be built. But he's far from the God some perceive him to be and far from untouchable - because he's had three years and we still have a fair few issues that we did then anyway, just different players (some of whom he's brought in)

But yes, we finally have some solid leadership with Carlo and this is a positive thing.

Do not worry @Zatara
If we sell Ricarlison and Kean for 100m Brands will spend some of the money on two 18yr old french kids to keep you happy :):)

With 100m from those 2 ,100m from Usmanov and 30m from other bits and pieces Carlo would sign 4 -5 top players for the first 11 and Brands would sign 3-4 youths
There will be plenty of bargains from cash strapped clubs in a post pandemic world
Especially if grounds are not allowed to be filled to capacity (which looks likely in some countries ) at the start of next season
French football (PSG ASIDE ) is basically financially knackered

How on earth do Richarlison + Kean = only £100mil?

Anyway, if its me id hope he and Ancelotti realise we dont have any natural wide players and then setup with a midfield diamond like Ancelotti used in Milan.

2 × CF = DCL / Kean / Richarlison / King
1 × AM = James / Gordon
2 × CM = Doucoure / Onyango
1 × DM = Allan / Davies / Gbamin
1 × LB = Digne / Nkounkou
2 × CB = Godfrey / Holgate / Branthwaite
1 × RB =
1 × GK =

Sigurdsson + Gomes + Bernard + Delph + Tosun + Keane + Mina + Kenny + Pickford + Iwobi = £150mil

Incoming

CM/AM = Player who can play both positions

CM = Box to box star player

CB = Star player

2 × RB = Another Digne + Nkounkou

2 × GK = Starter and backup

Thats a somewhat achievable target...though i doubt we'd see as much turnover it makes more sense to me than selling 2 players whose performances will only improve for us, as would their values.

No chance at all.

We’re not selling that many. We have to sign right back and a second keeper (though that will probably be Olsen.
We also need a forward( (either King or someone else)

If no more leave, I don’t expect much more than that, because of financial limitations.

It strikes me that the players most likely to leave are Bernard, Kean and Kenny. These will generate the transfer kitty.
ernard would need replacing.

Hopefully Tosun will leave but it will probably be a loan or a free. No one will touch Delph. He’s staying.

It seems possible that Richarlison or Rodriguez could also go.

Pretty sure Kean, Mina, Pickfodd, Gomes, Iwobi and Sigurdsson will all still be here.

I see three or four signings as most likely. More if Rodriguez or Richarlison leave as they would have to be replaced.

I thought he was going to be sent packing by Moshiri? Oh wait no you don’t let half of your DREAM TEAM walk out the door just as he’s starting to turn things around.
Turn things round?
Not convinced mate. Hope your right though.
Think Brands is very lucky to still be here. Don’t rate him in fairness

Because that's how transfers work?

Don't know how to break it to you but FIFA and Football Manager aren't that accurate a model of trading multi million pound assets.

It's not a straight case of the reported, and often speculated at, fee being money in the bank. Transfer fees are often structured over years, part of them depend on performances or conditions being met, huge percentages that don't go to the selling club are often reported as being part of the fee and then there is player contracts also reported as part of the fee you see reported.

And on what basis do you believe Usmanov is casually dropping £100M into the kitty and £30M just drifts in from somewhere or other? You've pretty much imagined a £250M transfer kitty with nothing to back it up and are presenting it as a legitimate course of action that should it not come off is a failing on Brands' behalf.

Same issues as three years ago. Newly promoted teams are arguably better than us without the 'it takes time' mantra. Some good signings , some Steve walsh type signings. Added to the deadwood in that three years aswell. Looks great at photoshoots. I wouldn't be fussed if he was off or staying.

Had his hands tied by FFP, lumbered with a shocking squad with barely any resale value, we’ve had crippling injury crisis after crisis (despite what the media write), Covid pandemic then hit.

Despite this though we’ve moved from the 17/18 squad to the one now containing Richarlison DCL James Digne Allan Docuoure Godfrey Mina being managed by Carlo Ancelotti. These players have arrived at Everton with us only having sold Gueye as one of our best players. The age of the squad has come down, the quality of it has gone up, the value of it has increased massively.

He’s not been perfect, but I think the direction of travel is right. I don’t know why there’s an idea of him that he was suddenly going to start getting unknown world beaters for a pittance and selling our complete dross for decent fees. I think he’s mostly brought in far better players than have left the squad. The injuries to Gomes Gbamin and Delph were a massive problem for us that we’ve still not got over. We seem to hopefully be coming out of the other side of that though.

Those newly promoted teams from three seasons ago are probably back in the championship yet we’re hoping to qualify for Europe...

Nope Leicester came up and obliterated us. Wolves have came up and been better qualifying for Europe. Let's looks at this year. Villa are highly likely to finish higher than us and are arguably a better team. Leeds could well catch up to us.
