If he has seen our CM and thought yeah that can get Europe next season I want him launched into a huge vat of toxic material.

The amazing thing is that CM was better than last year.

My issue with us always having lofty ambitions is how far away our squad is compared to the top 4 teams. They have consistently developed a pretty solid foundation to build upon with ample depth. Just look at Chelsea they were able to reach the top four with mostly academy products and then threw 200 million to cultivate their squad. For us it's like working on a project in your yard and finding half the materials are shoddy and you have restart time after time, that's us every season. Hopefully we can make some shrewd long term acquisitions we can add to in the future as consistancy is vital.

200mil tho mate.theyve spent a fortune on young players and sent them out on loan for years it's unbelievable how much money they've blown to get the right ones imo

What? last year they had a transfer ban still finished in the top four and then added even further quality during this season. How do you compete with that without some savviness?
Edit.. mostly academy products is inaccurate but half the starting squad was youth products . The gist is they had a solid framework to work from

They have 2 or 3 youth products, im not sure Chelsea can be held up as a beacon of building from within.

But I do agree, it takes a little extra to close the gap on the likes of the top teams in the league, your Uniteds, Citys, Chelseas are so far down their projects its unreal. Then of course there's Big Red.

Look I expected more progress after 3 years, but we are finally seeing off some of the more useless players we had in the squad, people will argue we have added a few, but it wasnt going to go perfectly sadly, hence us being a little off.

But I think we had a good window last summer, we didnt fix everything, but we bought some very useful players, another window the same or ideally better and with Carlo we "should" be better shape next season. We missed out this season due to failing to beat some pretty terrible sides, nobody can tell me we havent already got the players to beat ya Fulhams, Newcastles and Sheff Uniteds, even ya rubbish like Leeds, so a better season and who knows.

Well Carlo has just come out with ambitions to fight for the top spots so hopefully Brands gets his hands on some gems

He also has had some failures but he has had two jobs to do since his arrival.

Bumping this up as the results of this mans efforts to date have been appalling, and are there for all to see.

If it's more of the same, then it will be more of the same.

We need a complete reset in transfer policy.

How he hasn't been booted let alone got an extension makes zero sense to me.

We're no better then when he started here.

His job as DOF is to build the club now and for the future.
I think most would agree the two you mentioned have shown lots of potential.

We are not going to build a team overnight.

Brands has had to ship out one squad while trying to build a new one for the manager.

When a manager leaves a club and is replaced by a new one then inevitably it makes life difficult for the DOF as players fall in and out of favour.

I think Brands has had to work with two if not three managers in a short few years.
