A month ago you were singing Holgates praises and wanted him starting every game. Now he’s limited and we need another center back? Holgate has been the worst of the 4 this year, but CB is hardly a priority this summer, especially if Branthwaite is ready for more minutes.

You realise that attacks are built from the back right? If the defence is sat extremely deep then simplistically it makes it far further to travel up the pitch to create chances

Theres no way id sell Holgate before Keane. It would be pure stupidity unless were planning to sell both.

People seem to forget that Holgate is a centre back, not a right back. Hes had no consistent game time at centre back this season as he's been needed to play out of position. Less of a preseason than others and came into the season injured.

He can play better, weve seen it last season. When he played centre back.

Both because you can erase the attack stats. We dont set up tactics to attack. We set up to defend from the front and knick a goal. Our tactics v Brighton and hove Albion was to score from long digne throw ins which arent that long.

He's assembled one of the slowest teams in the PL and one with a dire attitude toward professionalism.

If he'd done that without a net spend I'd have been saying we can do better; but when he's spent hundreds of millions of pounds putting most of it together he really should be forced out without a moment's hesitation.

He barely gets cash in for player sales; his academy "redevelopment" consists of asking Ancelotti to put one of them on the bench for experience and then leave serial losers and hangers on like Unsworth, Ebbrell and Jeffers to steal a living off the club; and his influence over the hiring and firing of coaches is minimal.


If you were to choose one person as a microcosm for all that's wrong with Everton FC in 2021, he'd be the poster boy. An utter bluffer getting away with it at Everton's expense.

The fact that filling RB properly addresses both is why I see it as the #1 offseason priority. We have to get that one right.

Jeffers left last week mate for Ipswich
