And we still end transfer windows with holes in the squad.

Doesn't seem to matter who the owner, DoF or Manager is, or whether we've had money or not.

I don't want us panic buying but if our targets aren't available then a loan option should be available for the position.

The RB and lack of back up forwards this season was careless. It's very likely cost us European qualification.

I don't see the point in having a living legend as a manager and not giving him competent options.

Brands let 2 attackers go at the end of the window and didn't replace them. He didn't sign a new right back.

He leaves the manager with problems every summer. He let down Silva and now he's letting down Ancelotti as well. Let Carlo run the show this summer and things will improve, we don't need the DOF role when we hire such an experienced manager.

Totally disagree with that last point - that assumes the DOF role is solely to do with identifying which players to buy and sell

Why though? If we were hypothetically after I dunno, a right back called Max Aarons, how would the Euros compromise that deal? I don’t know, but people will find a way to make it an excuse.

But we're not after Max Aarons anymore apparently.

I'm just saying if our targets happen to be players at the Euros then yes, it'll be harder.

If our targets play in the Latvian division then it won't be harder.

I hope our director of football has considered this and isn’t going to wait until the Euros starts to think about entering into negotiations for players that will be playing in it.

The three of them signed within 8 days of the season starting. It's not 10pm on deadline day but it's still fairly last minute.

Id suggest that considering we won our first four games that it had no bearing on our performance. The window was extended last summer into the start of the season because there was not enough time before it started for a full transfer window due to the late finish of the previous season. Despite this we managed to get in three of Ancelotti’s main targets before a ball was kicked. There’s plenty to criticise but I hardly think this one is worth having a go at.

I wasn’t having a go or suggesting it caused a bad start? If you’d used this argument in the first place I wouldn’t have responded, but you didn’t.

The Aarons talk is interesting - if you believe the media we have pulled away over the price/bidding war I just can't see anyone in the PL bidding daft money for the lad certainly no top sides that are in desperate need for a RB.

The likes of Aarons, Bailey/Diaby Bissouma/Zakaria Coutinho etc who have been linked should be looked at immediately if true as we need business doing early and can not wait for the Euros to end to do the bulk of it considering nearly 18 months in Carlo still doesn't have a favoured system/starting 11 we need to nail pre season.

I fully expect the Euros excuse to be trotted out many times this summer.
Yes, this is mainly the reason I mentioned it and the fact I thought last season was the same, late signings.
We should know who we want and sign them. As much as I can’t stand the RS they put us to shame in recruitment

I just don’t think ‘last minute’ constitutes players being in place a week before the season starts in September when the transfer window closes in October. The Godfrey one maybe more so but those three I disagree.

And that's fair enough. I assume what people mean is that they'd like us to get players in early so they have time to settle, get to know their team mates, work on things in training, and have a full pre-season to improve their fitness, so in that sense a week is still a bit last minute. I'm not saying it's easy or anything so you don't need to try and convince me to change my mind, I'm just saying I think that's the point people are making.

Do you think Carlo wants to be in charge of recruitment, negotiate deals etc?
