The Bernard bid was accepted and he rejected the Saudis I thought
A half decent DoF with good contacts should be able to get at least £30 million for Gomes (£10m ) Bernard (£10 m ) Iwobi (£10 - 15m ) and Delph ( free ). Add in JJK (£5m ) Mina (£15-£20 m ) and Kean ( £30-35 m ) and it gives Carlo a decent budget even before Moshiri puts his hand in his pocket again.Hes had 3 years to sell players...hes done that with some, but mostly weve waited till contracts ran down. Fair enough, they were poor players on big wages.
I dont think he has an excuse for not being able to sell Gomes, Iwobi, Delph, Bernard and others not good enough who are his own signings though.
It would be a miracle to even get half our money back on those 4 which is, £28.5mil.
Add in Kean and thats a couple of £30mil signings for the team right there.
You've just hit the nail on the head.People ask what the root of our problems are and in essence this is it.
We are talking millions of pounds of outlay here for pretty much nothing in return and not only is that tolerated, the architect as he calls himself gets a contract extension.
I've seen management cultures like this myself - if nobody calls anyone out then everybody's job is safer.
As much as i agree with you, the majority of the 25 (i think it's 16/17) are now Brands bought players yet we are still talking about needing a squad rebuild. Tbh apart from Godfrey and Digne i would take a bid for any of them.So are we just going arguing about Brands for another 3 months now the season is over? I for one think it sounds like a right hoot.

Carlo backed him up a month ago; he backs Carlo up this week.
This represents a problem - perhaps THE problem as we attempt to get out of this hole.

He’s got to move quick here.
Looking at the outs.
Sigurdsson
Bernard
Delph
JJK
Iwobi
Just those for example no tournament for them this summer get them gone ASAP.
Minimal fees apart from Iwobi just get them off the wage bill and out.
It would take a very strong stance from the club to get rid of Sigurdsson or Delph, eg no squad number, train with the U23s, etc. Otherwise, they'll just sit tight and wait until there are gaps to be plugged in the match day squad again....it makes it all seem so straightforward.
It takes 3 parties to make a transfer happen; the current club no longer wants the player: a club wants to acquire the player: the player wants to leave.
Sigurdsson gets lots of playing time, I can‘t see Ancelotti wanting to release him & suspect he’ll be offered a new deal. Rumours in recent windows suggest Bernard could be off to an uncompetitive league who pay big bucks (Saudi, China perhaps). Bernard seems the most likely to go.
I honestly can’t see anybody wanting Delph & if they do he might want to see out his deal and ultimately move on a Bosman. Iwobi might go if there is interest and a financially attractive deal for him.
Why would you want to get rid of Mina? Gomes is worth zero plus a big reduction in his salary.A half decent DoF with good contacts should be able to get at least £30 million for Gomes (£10m ) Bernard (£10 m ) Iwobi (£10 - 15m ) and Delph ( free ). Add in JJK (£5m ) Mina (£15-£20 m ) and Kean ( £30-35 m ) and it gives Carlo a decent budget even before Moshiri puts his hand in his pocket again.
If Brands does really well he could also shift Tosun - if he makes a miracle recovery - and Sigurdsson.
Thats the benchmark of how good he is as a DoF and sadly I'm not holding my breath.
