Iwobi: 55 Games / 2 Goals / 2 Assists
Gomes: 47 Games / 0 Goals / 1 Assist
Delph: 24 Games / 0 Goals / 0 Assists

Almost £70m worth of ‘talent’ excluding all the undeserved wages they’ve drained of the club. Yet that warranted a new 3 year deal. Any other employee who achieved something similar at another club would have been booted and permanently banned from the premises.
Probably get myself banned for being very politically incorrect and not very woke if I were to have a cathartic moment over these 3 non entities. Let's just say we should keep Everton in the community, in the community and not match day pitch side.

I completely get the clamour for young low price championship players with a point to prove. We’ve had far too many duds who didn’t want to play for us littering our team.

What I would also say though is that the best Everton players of this and recent seasons have been Gueye James Richarlison Digne Godfrey Calvert Lewin. Before he was injured Docuoure was also being hyped as a potential player of the season.

There’s a mix there of players from every background: luxury free transfer, expensive prem up and comer, unknown championship kid we developed, good players in relegation teams, unwanted player from Europe’s top teams.

So it’s not just about a certain profile of player. There’s attributes we’re obviously not scouting for that we need to. All these player have (or had) hunger to play well. We’ve got far too many players without this. But there’s also a base level of quality as well required. I don’t doubt Tom Davies or Coleman work hard but they’re just not good enough now.

That’s why I wouldn’t immediately discount links to players at top European clubs. Yes they might be a dud like Gomes, but our two outstanding creative players are James and Digne both bought by this route and in the big games they are the ones more often than not along with Richalrison making the difference. That’s why the character of the player is so important. They both had something to prove whereas players like Schneiderlin Siggurdson Williams Iwobi Delph seemingly didn’t.
Yeah 100% this. It's not about where the player comes from or how old they are or whatever, it's about what qualities they bring and how we can make use of those qualities, both in terms of character and footballing ability. It's the main thing i've been critical Brands for since he came in, I think he's consistently failed to bring in players who address the issues in the squad and often just seems to bring in players that he/the manager thinks are good. His failure to bring in any of the players Silva needed to play his preferred system was genuinely unbelievable, and then to go into this year with such an obvious lack of pace and forward options was almost as bad.

Can forgive Gomes. He wasn't signed for goals and assists.
Delph... at the time I understood. Wasn't a lot of money, could have given us something. I was well wrong.

Iwobi though, there's no excuse for that calamity. Brands;

"He's 23-years-old, already quite experienced and the most important thing: he has goals and assists in his game."

What a complete and utter nonsense that shout was.

For him and possibly Carlo this close season and how we perform 1921/22 will be the watershed.

Hopefully he can get these lads playing some decent togger next season..

It is.

We are at the point where the Koeman / Walsh disasters are mostly Gond and the squad will be mainly shaped by him.

This summer simply had to be successful. It has to improve us and lift us up another level.

My concern for the future is that he's going to use his own poor decision making with acquiring king in January as justification in opting not do any further business during that window. He's always mentioned his apprehension for doing business in January.

100% agree all around. Gomes was brought into the squad to distribute in front of strong defensive cover; we lost that, were not subsequently able to reliably provide it and he got hurt. He looked good when healthy alongside the right pieces.

I booted Delph as well and will 100% own it.

Iwobi was an obvious panic signing.

Hes had 3 years to sell players...hes done that with some, but mostly weve waited till contracts ran down. Fair enough, they were poor players on big wages.

I dont think he has an excuse for not being able to sell Gomes, Iwobi, Delph, Bernard and others not good enough who are his own signings though.

It would be a miracle to even get half our money back on those 4 which is, £28.5mil.

Add in Kean and thats a couple of £30mil signings for the team right there.

Has he tried to sell Gomes, Iwobie or Delph yet?

Bernard bids were knocked back presumably at the request of Carlo.
