I dunno - then the club looks at his physique, his age and how his workload was less, and a shorter season than a PL season...it was a bad risk in hindsight but not at the time surely.
So basically we should sign no players that are ever in a Euros or WC either then?

But people under 30 would only know that Everton is a top 10 Premier League club, and will at least know us because of Rooney, Lukaku, Howard, Cahill, Arteta, players like that of around 2005-13 and now because of Pickford. I think a top Premier League team is still an attraction, even if they don't immediately know of us as one of the best in history. That's why I keep thinking that we should build on that history, and our 'uniqueness', because global fans would be attracted to support Everton as an 'authentic' club, as not everyone automatically wants to support the Man U, City, Chelsea, Arsenal..it's fun supporting a club with a story as well as money and success. Of course everyone knows us, I'm talking about what would attract young players and new fans to us.
Paying him over 100k a week for very little return was a problem. Hence why we are shifting him out and the only place that will take him is Dubai or Saudi Arabia.

Sure a top Premier League team is an attraction but we're not that, we're an average Premier League team, we've not won anything for 26 years and in 34 years since we last won the League we've finished in the top 4 twice

I’d agree he should’ve been carefully managed, especially when he was so open about not being match fit but that isn’t down to Brands. Brands doesn’t pick the team.
I actually think Brands can more easily be criticised for what he hasn’t brought in more than what he has brought in. A genuine lack of creative and goal threat in wide areas and pace and athleticism in key areas. There was a time last season when Sigurdsson was our fastest and most mobile central midfielder.
To be fair Daves right, how many times have you heard about players going to the AFCON and then missing 2 years of football?
