Brands: i have this GREAT idea: in order to add to a highlight reel of the players we want to sell, lets play man united as last pre season game and ruin any chance of ever selling our deadwood!

I mean, what the hell is this man thinking? Is he thinking? Is he Darth Vader in disguise?
You do know he had zero to do with the pre season schedule right?

They're alright.

They're going to look very short term in 2 years when we still can't sell any of our players and are still in trouble with FFP though.

This is where I struggle to see what Brands remit is. Allan and Rodriquez are Ancelotti signings. I'm not even sure with Doucoure. Rodriquez though is the best current example of how our setup isn't working. Ancelotti signs him, leaves and the next manager doesn't want him. Where is the continuity?

The only continuity Brands is concerned with involves his contract.

So disappointed with brands. There is no direction or strategy. The whole point of his role is to put in place a strategy around recruitment and culture so that regardless of the revolving door or managers the setup stays same - like Ajax.

This bloke buys underperforming overpri

He is making this an impossible, unattractive job for any manager now or in the future.
Zero direction from the man tasked with moulding the future of the club, I was happy to give him a chance and understand he inherited a bad job from Walsh, but he is making an absolute mess of us, giving managers no chance.
Every window has passed with glaring holes not addressed in the squad and random stabs in the dark with past it, poor players. I thought he would be a progressive guy trying to build an identity with younger, hungry players who could hopefully be flipped for profit or stay and be successful. Instead we sign washed up never beens after a final paycheck.
But he got everyone to clap Seamus when he signed our captain fantastic down for another couple of seasons so he 'gets' us.

Sadly, I have to agree. Take Coleman, for example - a great servant to the club, we all know, but a player who's clearly in decline. Surely nobody can seriously believe that Seamus should be in the team in season 2022/23? In that case, why extend his contract? I just hope that the contract includes a relegation clause, because the way things are going, relegation isn't out of the question.
