Benitez didn't want the player when he came in. Inter then came in for Dumfries and we didn't have the cash to compete.

He took Patterson to benitez, benitez didn't want to go too high - I agree on that tbf btw. Brands' next choice was AMN, who isn't even a RB.

Now, the issue is Brands clearly in that circumstance hasn't come up with acceptable, cohesive targets. I like Dumfries, but him and Patterson are nothing alike and AMN is nothing alike either of them - there's no profile, no plan or structure. Just random picks.

But he did want a RB this summer. Benitez ran the rule and said no to the choices he was presented with.

That's no defence for Brands though, we've needed a new Right back for 3 years now....we should have been signing a good young player to compete with and then replace Coleman....

Its been glaringly obvious the past few seasons.....but instead we got Sidibe, and have held on to Kenny....and played Centre backs out of position....

Brands has had all the time in the world to scout and recruit players, and he has failed miserably

According to the guardian, Brands was against the signing of Benitez. All the signings in the summer were all “Benitez signings”. I remember reading about him overruling the Dumfries signing. Brands has made some mistakes but he has spent the past few years cleaning up the mess by Walsh and Koeman. He took a few gambles and it did not pay off. Injuries have really ruined our squad over the past few years.

Either he’s responsible for this utter horror show of a recruitment process in which case he should be fired or (as I suspect) he has very little input in either recruitment or appointing the manager in which case he should be fired to save on the wage bill.

It’s a lot of money to pay for a glorified chief scout

This is pretty much the most charitable spin I can put on the mystery that is Marcel Brands.

Either he’s bad at his job, or he’s not being allowed to do his job thanks to Moshiri allowing every new manager to overrule him.

If it’s the former, why haven’t we got rid?

If it’s the latter, a man with integrity would resign. Instead, he’s sat collecting a fat wage while trashing his own reputation.

Just pointing it out because you're like the 3rd one I've seen mention it...

The guy was yelling but it was no where near screaming in his face lol...

If it was just a random guy in traffic he was yelling at, or even brands in public... but he's at the stadium during the derby losing 4-1... how soft can we be? The guy was fine.

I've seen a lot of worse, but I still don't like it. We all are emotional after a game like that and need ways to vent. The issue is that things should never have got to this point. That is the board and owner's fault. Things will only get worse and worse if they don't act.

All guess work really but my guess is its Rafael.
