Marcel Brands

I reckon its a dig at the fans, there's no way he publicly critiques the manager like that, its career suicide.
That makes no sense mate. He definitely means the coaching etc. Very little we can do to affect the game really. I doubt Brands picked Benitez - Nuno or Potter would seem more a Brands pick to me. So he's probably ticked off and wanting Benitez out. He's also deflecting blame cuz this is his mess more than Benitez' at the moment

Not all on him as Walsh blew a ton on utter garbage but it's almost like Brands has no balls, gives the manager what they want without thinking long term for the club

Where is his club plan where is the scouting what is happening with this club

At least he took the abuse. Don't know what he says back to him. Looks like an arrogant response at the end. Tosser.

"Is it only the players"

Not sure if hes trying to put it on the manager or what here...

Hes got no excuse.

Oh he does.

He wanted to sign Dumfries. We had a deal agreed with the player, sort of with PSV, didn't have the cash though but think the plan was to go with a loan to buy with obligation.

Benitez didn't want the player when he came in. Inter then came in for Dumfries and we didn't have the cash to compete.

He took Patterson to benitez, benitez didn't want to go too high - I agree on that tbf btw. Brands' next choice was AMN, who isn't even a RB.

Now, the issue is Brands clearly in that circumstance hasn't come up with acceptable, cohesive targets. I like Dumfries, but him and Patterson are nothing alike and AMN is nothing alike either of them - there's no profile, no plan or structure. Just random picks.

But he did want a RB this summer. Benitez ran the rule and said no to the choices he was presented with.

Dumfries we can probably get around half price based on how hes done for Inter and the rumours that they want to punt him on loan.

But youre right, all the targets have different profiles.

Started with Lenglet / Mina then Zaha / Iwobi and the same since..

I don't understand how this man still has a job to be honest. Swapping King for Rondon alone should earned Brands a P45. We have no managerial stability. Gbamin looks to be as potentially as bad a piece of business as anything from the Walsh era. Gomes, Bernard, no cover at left back, our very own captain clanger ensconced at right back....the mistakes are plentiful.

Disturbingly, almost none of the business conducted during Brands tenure has been of the sort one might expect - low cost, high upside young players from outside Evertons usual scouting channels. Any [Poor language removed] could have got mugged by Barcelona for Gomes, and indeed any [Poor language removed] did. For me, the big question is how did we run so foul of the FFP regulations? Isn't is Brands job to keep track of this sort of thing so it doesn't happen?

Nkounkou + Branthwaite looked good.

Nkounkou + Branthwaite

Nkounkou is the lone example of what we were sold we were getting in Brands.

Jarrad Branthwaite was already in the Carlisle first team when we signed him. Not sure we hired or even needed a former PSV Director Of Football to tell us about a six foot five lad already playing in the Football League a hundred or so miles away, but it's not a great indictment of the clubs scouting network if that's the case.
