Marcel Brands

Sorting contracts and negotiating deals is about all the clout he has . Moshiri and every manager moshiri has appointed do the rest .
Some people don’t even think he does that. I was criticising him in the Mina thread because we didn’t sell last summer. We can’t let the few valuable players we have run their contracts down or sell with only 12 months left. That, to me, seemed like a pretty basic strategy for a director of football. Can’t remember who it was but they were saying it’s not Brands fault and he doesn’t even decide who/when to start contract renewals or who/when we sell.

Does he actually do anything? I’m pretty sure he’s far more involved in recruitment conversations, contract renewals, sales than people make out. It’s a mess and this guy is up to his eyes in it.

Who the hell are our “key players”? Wouldn’t give a rat’s arse if any of these losers left the club my mutual consent tomorrow.

I think what Brands was alluding to in his cryptic response was the inherent injury crisis and the financial restrictions as bring the reasons for our situation.

If that is the case then both he and Benitez need booting straight away.

Here are the reasons why both should be volleyed down County Rd.

1.Brands for recruiting dross on high wages and long contracts.

2.Brands for his inability to move existing dross off the wage bill

3.Brands for not recruiting cover/replacements for existing dross.

4.Benitez for not coaching dross to dig out results in the face of massive injury crisis

5.Benitez for recruiting the fat useless turd Rondon and give him a 2 yr deal.

6.Benitez for being a stubborn tactical dinosaur and not adjusting his tactics and formations to compensate for loss of key players.

I’d even go so far as to suggest that maybe Benitez’s actions and tactical screw-ups are considered acts to highlight the limitations of Brands and force Moshiri to boot Brands out of the club.

Hmmmmm…food for thought? Benitez is a sneaky get.

For me recuruitment was made clear last night the second most expensive player we paid for iwobi didnt even get on the pitch last night. Which just shows had bad the club have been bringing players in, even last night i thought allan was poor who was a carlo player. Is vital we start gettinng the right players in now, which is either moshiri giving brands more of a say or getting rid of him because not doing his job

There were strong rumours from certain people coming from the club that Benitez wants brands gone long term . this was being said as early as pre season .
