I've always been confounded by his name, Marcel... it is a funny the discrepancy that exists in names between the US and Europe.

Lol I never would have thought a white guy would be named Marcel. I like the name actually, lol just every Marcel I've known of has been black.

We have other names like this, like Antoine or how we pronounce it and sometimes spell it, Antwan lol. That was the "french" name I chose while forced to waste 10 wks "learning" the language.

Time and time again, this comes up every season.
A DoF is accountable for all aspects and direction of football from the ground up.
You appoint coaches along side the DoF who are responsible for delivering said vision/style of play etc..
Unfortunately we've got this so bloody wrong it's untrue. Works well on the continent as the big clubs don't really have the same competition like the premier league or championship. It's a given they'll be within top four. So effectively we've got a glory fide signature when a players contract or a head scout "Walsh". I think Brands is capable but not in the premier league, i don't think this role exsists TBH. United on the other hand employing rangnick as a consultant on a temporary basis is a master class

Has any rumours come out about a manager that Brands actually wanted? I can't imagine that he wanted ancelotti or benitez.

He isn’t the main problem, just like Benitez isn’t the main problem.

A DoF system works if it’s allowed to run properly. Ours isn’t.

I would not shed a tear if he left though I think right now the pressing need is a new manager

Moyes was approached. West Ham then offered him a new contract and he accepted.
