Marcel Brands

Kind of conflicted about Brands. I bet his autobiography will be worth a read for sure.

On one hand, going off what we do know about his influence, is that his record is poor. Bad signings, no academy development, bad loans in and out.

On the other, we'll never know what went on behind the scenes. I'd imagine he was so frustrated by Moshiri's meddling and never being given any real autonomy to pick the manager or even pick the signings. Hard to implement a long term vision for a club when one minute you're signing James Rodriguez and the next Andros Townsend.

On the whole, he's the right sacrificial cow. Hopefully it's the end of the DOF role at Everton.

He isn’t the main problem, just like Benitez isn’t the main problem.

A DoF system works if it’s allowed to run properly. Ours isn’t.

I would not shed a tear if he left though I think right now the pressing need is a new manager
We talked it up. Maybe Rafael is in charge after all. Jan window will be interesting

Right, I'd give this view a lot of time if it wasn't for one pretty big thing...

He signed a new contract in the spring, years into the job, knowing exactly what it entailed.

So he doesn't get that excuse. If he'd just ran down his contract and/or hadn't signed that new one, fine, but he was happy enough to stay in the job earlier this year.

So no, that's not an excuse for me - he's simply a failure.

He rocked those sleeveless cardis like nobody ever before.
60 years of age....SIXTY YEARS OF AGE.

Mirror reporting Rafael is in full control of recruitment.

Finally for once I'll agree with @davek on something.

You might not be able to remember them but they happened. As for the consequences of those revolts: investment is what you make of it I suppose. If you employ the wrong people to spend it then you end up in the [Poor language removed] like Liverpool under Benitez.

Correct mate.

As soon as the pressure came, he did what people think he needed to do.

Same with Martinez, Silva, Koeman.

It’s farcical. The fella had his hands tied, and didn’t have full reign to do his job efficiently.

Of all the people who could’ve been sacked, Brands will mostly be the one whos impact will be felt the least.
Spot on for me that.

People think it will change things, it wont.
