Marcel Brands

The thing is Brands could go back to Holland, or somewhere else in Europe, and in a few years we will all be gnashing and wailing our teeth watching that club produce a good team for nothing.

Meanwhile we'll be watching £20 million pound man Longstaff get run round for 90 minutes by Charlton's midfield as they stroll to a 0-2 win.
No point looking at it like that in my opinion. Just didn't suit the club. For example, Steve Walsh was an incredible scout who even for us recommended signings like Robertson, Haaland and Maguire for small money, instead the club rejected those ideas and decided they only wanted massive Hollywood signings to match the apparent Hollywood manager that we had. If we had Steve Walsh as a scout instead of a bloody director of football he'd have been fantastic.

Brands was a great DoF for PSV when he basically had sole running of the club, regardless of whether he's good at it or not that style just doesn't work in England.

There's no Premier League club that has a Director of Football that has complete autonomy over the club, there's clubs that do it far better than we have like West Ham, City and Liverpool but each of these work hand in hand with the managers unlike Brands who at PSV would've seen managers come and go and suit him and his style of play, he's tried to do the same thing here and it hasn't worked because at a club like PSV the relative risks aren't as much, there's a strong presence of playing youth in Dutch football and generally he hadn't dealt with managers coming and going based on getting sacked he'd have been used to managers leaving off the back of good form and having people like Cocu there stable for years, something almost no club in the Premier League has now.

Something immortally wrong with our club.

Nothing ever goes well.

Hard to judge brands on his performance, because this truth is we don't actually know what he was and was not allowed to bring and integrate into the club.

The club is constantly smokes and mirrors who knows, maybe he got sick of taking stick when his ideas were being brushed aside for best buds Moshiri and Kenwright

Or maybe he was a total failure.

No one knows

Right, I'd give this view a lot of time if it wasn't for one pretty big thing...

He signed a new contract in the spring, years into the job, knowing exactly what it entailed.

So he doesn't get that excuse. If he'd just ran down his contract and/or hadn't signed that new one, fine, but he was happy enough to stay in the job earlier this year.

So no, that's not an excuse for me - he's simply a failure.
yes, he was on a gravy train with biscuit wheels. The only downside was he had to take responsibility for Iwobi when Moshiri signed him, but as we saw he was more than happy to do that. He will be back in Eindhoven tonight, will put his head on his pillow dream a dreamless sleep and never ever think about L4 again.

I think after three years of trying to kick as many as he could off the Everton gravy train, he probably thought he'd take a ride for himself.

Happy to see the back of him, but it's unfair to turn a blind eye to how redundant we made his position.

Not sure mate, I just know he didn’t want Benitez.

I agree with everyone, I wanted Brands gone, but his departure, won’t change anything, we’ll, not that we’ll be able to se anyway.

Without knowing the ins and outs, he's either been forced out or left by his own accord due to the pressure.

End of the day, it's making waves and the message is getting to them.

If he didn't want to stay and book his ideas up, do better, then that's on him. If Mosh is pinning everything on him, that's Mosh's.

Or Mosh is fully behind Benitez and Brands can't stand him.
